I recently got to sit in Zoom conversation with Cynthia Aldinger of Lifeways North America. I met her as a student of the Lifeways classes offered online to parents. I was intrigued to speak with her given the incredible overlap I found inside of her work, and an aspect of Polyvagal Theory. Rhythm is a strong principle inside of Waldorf education, the education which informs Lifeways. It describes how rhythm is a strong and predictable natural influence inside of what nurtures us as human beings in connection to a living natural world. It also shares how we can implement rhythm as a way to look at "schedule" in our lives. Inside of Polyvagal Theory we look at rhythm as something which can be a predictability that feels very nourishing to our nervous systems, especially as tonifier to life circumstances that feel very far out of our predictability. I hope you enjoy our conversation, which centered for me on finding and locating greater breathe inside of our life and the life of our schedules. It's also a great primer on laying in "predictable" rhythm into our days, starting with the very simple basics of sleep, rest, and food. Lifeways: https://lifewaysnorthamerica.org
In this profound conversation we hear my Continuum mentor and teacher Beth Riley describe elements of what it means to be a human moving inside of a fluid body inside of a culture and other fixed ways of being. We describe new orientations to healing, wholeness, and transformation as an individual and society. Today's episode brings you a method for building a compassionate relationship with the inner world. We look at building a vocabulary for looking at one's quality of thoughts, emotions, body sensation, sense of "yield", and quality of breathe to begin to see where one might be in the polyvagal states that are unique to your experience. This is also a way to gently develop interoception as a compassionate skill that can be a regulating resource in and of itself. I return here with Part 2 of Befriending Yourself with Polyvagal Theory. This model presents a way to see the states that the body and being will move through on any given day, and correlates it to the demands to fluidity we find ourselves in right now.
I am happy to lay the groundwork in this episode as to why I find the Polyvagal Theory so helpful in coming to befriend myself and helping others to do the same. We are multi-dimensional beings, and it's so helpful to come to embrace that and work with ourselves in compassionate and dynamic ways.
Dr. Rhea is joined by Dr. Austin one more time as he interviews her on her particular focus at Blossom with client care. They focus on handling life material through chiropractic, applied polyvagal theory, and continuum. There is an emphasis on meeting the current life material of high levels of unknowns and the fluidity being asked of us.
Dr. Rhea is joined by Dr. Austin as they talk about the ways that Dr. Austin helps contribute to healing for clients using his particular approaches and the mechanisms he uses to help people to focus on feeling better in their bodies.

Dr. Rhea is joined by Dr. Austin Komarek. Last month we kicked things off by exploring "What does the healing, Who is the healer? The power of Innate Intelligence."
