This season we changed things up. In season two, each episode will feature a guest who will help your host breakdown a specific global issue—from deforestation in the Amazons to the intersection of foreign affairs and finance. The podcast will feature unplugged and nuanced yet interesting conversations that can help you understand what that issue is about, why it is happening, and what we can do about it.

We are deeply saddened and abhor Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.  We stand strong for Ukraine in their fight against tyranny and for democracy.  In the fourth episode, your host speaks to Nicole Ormaza  about the importance of conservation, the challenges associated with it, and how it starts with you.  Our conversation serves as a reminder that our mere presence on this earth comes at a high cost to the environment and the thousands of ecosystems in it. Nicole O. is a resident veterinarian at the Quito Zoo in Ecuador,  one of the largest zoos in Latin America and veterinary technician at CardioMedic, a cardiology centre for animals.  At the zoo, she tends to over 250 animals ranging across more than fifty species. Nicole is also the founder and director of Yanapaki, an animal welfare organisation dedicated to wildlife rehabilitation and conservation. Alexandra Tarzikhan is the Schuette Clinical Fellow in Health and Human Rights working at the Centre for International Human Rights at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.  Currently, she is supporting health and human rights projects in Somalia, Botswana, Lebanon, Ghana, the Dominican Republic, Bangladesh, and Gaza through the Northwestern Access to Health Project.  Previous to her work at the Centre, she worked in refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan, and Greece. In 2018 , Alex delivered a Tedx talk at Tufts to raise awareness and humanise the refugee crisis.  She runs a social media page called Meet a Refugee where she shares refugee stories and ideas on ways for people to help.  Alex grew up in Syria and speaks 4 languages: Arabic, French, English, and Spanish. In the second episode of Clandestino Season II,  your author speak to Erin B. on the intersection between geopolitics and sports. In this wide ranging, and hour-long conversation, we speak about how sports have revealed themselves to be creators and propagators of social movements all the way to how American and Western leagues pick and choose when to inflict themselves into political battles. Erin B. has been in the world of sports and foreign affairs her entire professional career. She is a graduate of University of Southern California (USC) where she worked in the Athletic Director’s Office, an NCAA Division 1 athletics program partnering extensively with NFL, NBA, MLS, and MLB teams.  After graduating from USC with a BS in Law and an MS in Geographic Information, Science, and Technology,  and being a fellow in the Leonard D. Schaeffer service in government fellowship program, she joined the Intelligence Community. During her tenure in government she worked on a wide range of national security topics. Our wide-ranging conversation explores how individual choices, ethical investing, corporation ESGs, and the role of technology can help individuals have an impact on global issues.  Ashley R. is in the early stages of developing a wealth management financial technology (fintech) start-up focused on empowering women. Prior to devoting her time to helping women gain financial literacy, Ashley led the overall marketing function including growth, education, and client engagement for Ethic, a fintech environemntal, social, and governance (ESG) asset manager. Throughout her seven year-long career in wealth management, Ashley held multiple leadership positions including leading product marketing and growth strategy for Morgan Stanley's Access Investing (MSAI), an automated investment platform.
