What does Jesus teach about salvation? What is salvation? Why must we be saved? What are we saved to? Jesus teaches Nicodemus, and us, about this work of God.See my notes and subscribe at therock.blog.
Though "dating" was unheard of in the First Century, Scripture provides principles that can help individuals today navigate the waters and find a good fish in the sea. Today, we consider the roles of modesty, respect, and understanding.
At the Babylonian exile, something important was happening that was bigger than both Israel and Babylon. God was expanding His name on the earth and advancing against sin and death.
Stories: Establishing a Throne
In Genesis 3, the ground was cursed through Adam. In Genesis 6, we saw the full force of the curse. In Genesis 8, God promised that He would never again curse the ground on account of people even though they are wicked. In Joshua, God gives His chosen people some ground to prosper. God is winning. One day, death will be no more.
Why do you think God would have taken His newly chosen people into Egypt only to allow them to be slaves there? When freeing them, why not simply destroy Egypt to free His people?
Following Genesis 6 and His promise to never again curse the earth or destroy every living thing because of human sin, God chooses Abraham and then the nation of Israel. Why? He is bringing humanity into His righteousness and eventual peace so that He will never have to destroy the world again.
On Wednesday night, Andrew continued connecting the pieces of the Bible to show the single story. At Babel, God was fulfilling His promise from Genesis 8:21-22. Never again would He let the earth come to the point of destruction because of human sin. He intervenes not because He hates towers, but because if humanity would have continued on their path we would have seen a Genesis 6 world develop again. God saved humanity from such wickedness and violence. He promised He would.
In this episode, Andrew talks about the first step God takes in this conflict people are in against death. He looks at Genesis 6 and Genesis 8 to show that people can't defeat death without God, and God is interested in saving His world and humanity--not destroying them.
In this episode, Andrew talks about the overall story of the Bible–looking particularly at the Creation and Fall. A conflict is introduced that, by the end of the story, will be resolved. What will God do about death?
In Exodus 20, the Ten Commandments, God said that He would visit the iniquities of the father upon his children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Him. As we look at this verse, we see a difference in the roles of men and women following Genesis 3. Why does God visit the iniquities of the father upon the children? What does that mean? What about those who love God?
Celebrate Good Things

Celebrate Good Things

In closing our Fall semester at GABC and our look at the life of Abraham, we see that God gives good things. We do well to step back from the stresses and negatives of life to celebrate the good things God does.
Justification

Justification

The second component of Salvation is justification. Justification is right standing before God.
As we move into a new section of our study about Biblical manhood and womanhood, it is important for us to know how to read the Old Testament Law. The Old Testament Law has much to say about men and women. We want to understand it correctly. In order to understand it correctly, we read it in its own context and consider authorial intent.
As Christians and Baptists, we believe that the Holy Spirits work in individual salvation begins with regeneration–or our being born again. Regeneration is the receiving of a new heart. It is effectual and affected by the Spirit. Those who experience regeneration respond with obedience and faith.
In Genesis 3, we see humanity disobey God. We also see the different ways God treats man and woman after their sin. greenacresbc.comtherock.blog

In the Baptist Faith and Message, we confess belief in humanity as man and woman, created together in God’s image. greenacresbc.comtherock.blog

On Wednesday, we continued through the story of Abraham and Sarah as they experience a lapse of faith after seeing God destroy an entire city. Some of the things God does seem mean to us, but He is just. He does not sweep away the righteous with the wicked. He restores and guards His people. greenacresbc.comtherock.blog
This question came from one of our students. A prevalent message today, and stemming from the purity culture of the 90s and 2000s, we question whether we should listen to music that is not explicitly in a “Christian Music” category.

According to our belief statement, we believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit calls us into salvation, effects our regeneration, and gifts each believer for ministry in Christ and the Church.
