Who owns the message that really saves?David’s bold offer to fight Goliath isn’t youthful arrogance—it’s gospel-shaped confidence. In this passage, we see two very different ways of facing the enemy: Saul’s worldly armour, and David’s trust in God’s deliverance. As David declares, “Let no man’s heart fail… your servant will go and fight”, we hear echoes of a deeper gospel: Jesus stepping forward to fight for us. He sees the enemy. It's His fight. It's His gospel! And please consider joining us live on Wednesdays from your workplace, 1pm Dublin Time on ZOOM. It’s a simple way of identifying as a Christian in your workplace. In this talk from 1 Samuel 17:12–30, we’re taken away from the battlefield and into the quiet obedience of a forgotten son — the smallest, the youngest, the errand-boy. But in God’s hands, this overlooked shepherd is his chosen king. While Israel trembles at the sight of Goliath, David sees something else. And when David hears the Philistine’s taunts, everything begins to change. And please consider joining us live on Wednesdays from your workplace, 1pm Dublin Time on ZOOM. This talk kicks off a three-part look at the famous story of David and Goliath, but not in the usual underdog-vs-giant way.Two armies staring each other down and a terrifying enemy standing in the middle. It’s a moment full of fear, failure, and silence, especially from Saul, the king Israel had asked for. But more than just an old battle story, this passage points us to deeper threats, our deeper need, and a singular hope for one who takes on what we cannot. And please consider joining us live on Wednesdays from your workplace, 1pm Dublin Time on ZOOM. In this passage, the rejected king Saul is tormented, while the newly anointed David enters his service—unknown, unnoticed, yet full of God’s Spirit. This week the Dublin Bible Talks explores how God’s unseen purposes unfold through subtle reversals, showing that while appearances can deceive, God’s true king is recognised by the Spirit resting on him. It points forward to the greater King, Jesus, on whom the Spirit remained. And please consider joining us live on Wednesdays from your workplace, 1pm Dublin Time on ZOOM. What conclusion should we draw from the resurrection of Jesus? This week after Easter we explore the clear message proclaimed by the earliest Christian witnesses: Jesus Christ was raised from the dead as proof that he will judge the world.Drawing on Peter’s words to Cornelius (Acts 10) and Paul’s speech at the Areopagus (Acts 17), we uncover the significance of the resurrection through the lens of Old Testament expectations:God’s just judgmentthe promised Davidic Kingand the Son of Man given all authority. This is not a side-topic for the curious—it is a demand for all people, everywhere, to repent. Because the day has been set. Jesus has been appointed. His resurrection proves it.And please consider joining us live on Wednesdays from your workplace, 1pm Dublin Time on ZOOM.
