Jasper Nathaniel is back with another report from the occupied West Bank. He tells us about a band of West Bank settlers attacking him and locals in the olive fields of Turmus’ayya, including an old woman who was beaten unconscious on camera. He then talks about the Israeli military and intelligence’s response to the crime, the footage actually breaking through to the mainstream Anglophone press, and various U.S. Senators’ response to the attack. Finally, he closes with speculation about Trump and Netanyahu’s refusal to sign on to an official West Bank annexation.Read Jasper's latest piece: https://infinitejaz.substack.com/p/a-lynch-mob-in-the-olive-fieldsandFollow Jasper’s substack: https://substack.com/@infinitejazFollow Jasper on Twitter: https://x.com/infinite__jaz?lang=enFollow Jasper on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/infinite_jaz/?hl=enAnd links for Volunteering in the West Bank: To volunteer in the West Bankhttps://palsolidarity.org/join-ism/https://www.defendpalestine.orghttps://cjnv.orgFundraiser for Umm Al-Khair as it faces impending demolition: https://secure.everyaction.com/LYmVAbNl2UOxgBcaP1mkFA2

In this edition of Ghoulvie Screamset Horrortober, Will and Hesse are joined by the writer, director and star of STRESS POSITIONS, Theda Hammel, to discuss two horror films about serial killers.First is Michael Powell’s PEEPING TOM (1960) which stands along with Hitchcock’s PYSCHO as one of the first movies to connect having a parent to something called “psychology” which is what makes people into sexually-depraved murderers. Banned in the UK following its initial release for being too twisted, PEEPING TOM follows a victim of parents and psychology, aspiring filmmaker Mark Lewis, who makes documentaries about killing women with a camera tripod as he records their final moments. Next up is perhaps the most genuinely upsetting and sickening movie we’ve ever done, John McNaughton’s HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER starring Michael Rooker as “Henry” a drifter who we the viewer follow as we observe his behavior and methods of murdering women and eventually begin to feel complicit in his nauseating crimes. Both films strongly investigate the nature of watching other people on screens and imply there is something inherently perverse about making and watching movies.Join Will and Hesse on Oct. 28 for a LIVE WATCH PARTY of Re-Animator with Bryan Yuzna! Columbot investigate a series of sordid murders that have rocked Neo-Islamabad in the wake of the Sultanization of the city. Can this ragtag team of renegade cops overcome lyin' dirtbag skells, Coptic street gangs, and their own rules-addled precinct to solve the case…even if they have to break every hadith in the book to do it? The Grand Finale of the Players Club Season 1. Nothing to add to last week’s copy so here are some alternate titles we had for this episode: Horrible Bosses VThe Bipolar ExpressI’ll Show You Who’s Never Been BossMiller’s CrossingMission BisexualThank you all so much for listening to this! We had such an incredible time making this series. We will most likely do a Metal Gear Rising postscript by the end of the year. After that, the next season of Players Club will PROBABLY be about the mainline From Software entries (Demon's Souls through Elden Ring). I want to do Hitman very, very badly, but I figure that more people would like a From thing for now, and I also don't want to do two stealth series in a row (as different as Hitman and MGS are). Beyond that, we have a wealth of choices, and I also think it would be fun to do one-offs, series that have 3 entries or less, and other oddities that could not fill up a season, but are too interesting to leave alone. We mentioned them last episode and this one, but just to put it in text: thank you to Your401KPlanReturns, Zipfslaw, Jim, and all the other incredibly talented modders that are keeping this game alive. If you're on PC and want to add some variety to your playthrough, we cannot recommend Infinite Heaven and Zeta enough. https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/1309https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/1226https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/45Finally, a huge thank you to Brendan for cohosting and producing. It was so indescribably fun to work with him again, and I cannot imagine that it will be the last time we collaborate for something. In the meantime, please check out Blowback if you haven't done so already. https://blowback.show/
Secret Base’s sports-data auteur Jon Bois is back to preview a new series: a history and analysis of mound charges in baseball, coming this November. We talk a little bit about recent sports news including Dana White’s new boxing league, Shohei Ohtani’s generational run, and the Seattle Mariners (RIP). We then do a deep dive on former Reform Party member Curtis Sliwa, his statements about parades, Hasids, and cats, and his eating competition scandals. Finally, a quick check-in on Jordan Peterson’s recent health woes.Subscribe to Secret Base: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDRmGMSgrtZkOsh_NQl4_xw YEAR ZERO: A Chapo Trap House Comic Anthology is back on sale! On this week’s edition of Ghoulvie Screamset Horrortober we have two films for you that are connected by a secret phantom theme that might surprise you, but not if you ever listened to this show or seen either of these movies.First up from 1935 is James Whale’s classic sequel Bride of Frankenstein. In this edition in the classic Universal horror canon, Boris Karloff is back as the cadaverous big man but this time he learns how to get drunk, smoke loud and get pussy! Then, we examine a sleazy teenage slasher in 1983’s Sleepaway Camp, a film that accurately captures the upstate NY summer camp experience: a place of sun drenched magic where your parents send you to be looked after by juvenile delinquents only two to three years older than you where you have your first sexual experiences in a climate of Lord of Flies like bullying where at least some of the staff are pedophiles. This film also contains one of the most genuinely shocking, depraved and out of left field “twist” endings of any movie ever.
Enjoy!
Journalist and Chapo Trumpology correspondent David J. Roth joins for a look at Trump’s current state of mind. Why is he fixated on death and the afterlife? Does he miss Joe Brandon, and is the feeling even stronger than that? Then we turn to the recently-leaked Young Republican group chat, their sick riffs, and what it says about the state of the right-wing youth in this country. Finally, we turn to Olivia Reingold, the Free Press writer who is losing friends (and her grasp on reality) because of her heinous reporting.Find David’s work at Defector here: https://defector.com/author/david-roth YEAR ZERO: A Chapo Trap House Comic Anthology is back on sale! [The original recording for The Phantom Pain was 12 hours of tape recorded over three sessions, so we split this into two parts. Pour one out for Brendan for editing this behemoth, too.]Anyone can give up this fight by uninstalling and playing Battlefield 6. But the feeling of arguing about this fucking game? That, we'll never forget. Like our missing foreskins, the sensation lingers. We hold crap in inflamed colons. We stride forward in the Osiris shoes of our fallen comrades. We stand tall in Seven For All Mankind jeans, as we approach year 11 of this shit. Then, and only then, are we alive. This pain is ours, and ours alone. A secret game that is both the greatest thing ever made, and the shoddiest. Our heterosexual romantic sexual partners who are women can never know. We will be stronger than ever, for our peace. This is it, the bittersweet finale to a journey that began in the middle of the 20th century, when Jack met Joy. If this game had been either markedly better or catastrophically worse, it's doubtful it would've become the madness rune it's known as today. There really isn't anything else like The Phantom Pain, or at least, games that share a lot of the same traits could not be more different. Imagine a game billed as the modern update to a series that saw its heyday during the 2000s. The developers and publishers hype up the comprehensively overhauled gameplay, graphics, art direction, and writing. Despite the excitement, the dev cycle is about as shitty as it could possibly be. It's so plainly "not done" that the final copy is riddled with the uncleared debris from features, levels, characters, and story beats that just didn't make it in. This could be the Saint's Row that came out in 2022. If you also needed to be logged into the publisher's servers at all times to enjoy every feature of the largely single player game you paid for, and there was obnoxious in-game currency, though? Then, you would have Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.Everyone has games they know are "bad" but love nonetheless. That's not what this is. This is the greatest game to ever be fucked up in such a specific fashion. Or, it's the shittiest game that sticks with you forever. It's probably the best stealth action gameplay ever offered to consumers. It features some of the best and worst writing Kojima and co. have ever put out. It's endlessly frustrating and enamoring, worse than everything that shares its greatest qualities, and better than anything that shares its most glaring flaws. And really, that may be the most charming aspect: you do not make something this ambitious and messy without swinging for the fences. It's heartening to know that there was enough of a fire inside the veterans at Kojima Productions to really go for it in such a fashion.
Drop Site’s Ryan Grim and Jeremy Scahill return to talk more about the ceasefire deal in Gaza. We discuss what finally led to this moment, whether this ceasefire will be any different than the previous ones, and the future of Gaza, Israel, and the Gulf States. We then turn to the media’s coverage of Gaza: Jeremy’s new story on The Free Press’ “debunking” of the photos of malnourished Gazan children, the news that Douglas Murray and David Frum were writing speeches for an Israeli ambassador, a supposed document from Mohammad Sinwar, and Jacki Karsh’s pro-Israel journalism fellowship.Subscribe to Drop Site here: https://www.dropsitenews.com/ NEW MERCH IS OUT NOW! [I uploaded a .WAV file for this by mistake and it was over a gig; tried to fix it and the whole thing got corrupted. Reupping here.]On this week’s episode of Ghoulive Screamset Horrortober, Hesse and Will are joined by Tom Sharpling of The Best Show, to break down two horror sequels, one of which could fairly be described as the best movie ever made and the other considerably less heralded.First up is Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, a delirious madcap horror comedy or nonstop pratfalls, gore, and ghoulish hilarity featuring the legendary Bruce Campbell as a live action Looney Toon who proves that cartoon violence is still just as funny when it happens to real people. Then, in Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm II, a mental patient and his uncle (?) go on the road to fight the nefarious “Tall Man”, an alien of some kind who is killing small town America by looting cemeteries of their corpses and turning the earthly remains of your grandparents into an army of dwarf-slaves.Subscribe to The Best Show with Tom Scharpling on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/bestshow4lifeAnd wherever you get your podcasts! patreon.com/thebestshow

The 1970s have shaped up to be an incredible decade for Big Boss. He’s doubled, perhaps even tripled or quintupled his bodycount (sexual). He’s marginally added to his other bodycount (people he has killed). He has come up with a completely baffling reason to decide The Boss actually sucked that will allow him to pretend like he isn’t completely haunted by what happened in Tselinoyarsk. And now, fresh off the heels of an exciting battle with a naked adult orphan, he is cashflow positive for the first time in his life. Unfortunately, this is owed to a line of work so morally corrosive that he sounds like Coleman Francis after only a year in business. But fret not: our hero may now sound like a bored, morally ambivalent sleazeball, but he’s still game to rescue the helpless from the clutches of evil. His mission: enter the American blacksite at Camp Omega in Cuba, and rescue Chico and Paz.Ground Zeroes may be the greatest overpriced game ever made. It’s slightly offensive that they charged people $40 for this in 2014, but it was the best the series ever looked and played. The “campaign” is just a single mission that will probably only last 40 minutes if it’s your absolute first time playing and you include the cutscenes, but what an incredible mission it is. It also marks a high point in Kojima’s abilities as a director, with the opening cut scene perhaps being the best start any game has ever had. Most impressively, it nails a grim, often upsetting story and tone without ever losing its “Metal Gear-ness” in the way MGS4 so often did. Loathe as we are to call any piece of entertainment “brave,” we’d be remiss if we did not mention what a lonely stand this game took in 2014. It was inconceivable for a hotly anticipated title in a megapopular series to feature ongoing American crimes against humanity so boldly and so directly. The industry is not exactly courageous now, but this was the era where inserting pseudo-Occupy gobbledygook into your open world sludge was the farthest anyone would go. Strap on your non-licensed firearm, make sure your military Walkman has the right batteries, and tell Morpho to grab you a Kaluha and brandy (this is the type of shit Big Boss would drink in 1975). We’ve got approximately 5,000 Marines to tranquilize and hurl off a cliff.Art by Josh Lynch. Theme song by Brendan James, inspired by the work of Tappi Iwase, Kazuki Muraoka and Norihiko Hibino.
Séamus joins us to talk about Trump’s proposed “Gaza peace plan” and what horrific policies it would actually entail in practice, as well as the Democratic Party’s desperate attempts to triangulate on the issue. Andrew Hudson returns to continue our discussion of Pete Hegseth’s rallying of the generals. We talk about Pete’s new warrior policies for the armed forces, his stricter standards for fitness and (and looser standards for sexual harassment), his new makeup office, and Trump derailing the whole thing to riff about battleships he likes (sounds familiar…). We then turn to the Democratic side of the aisle and recap Hakeem Jefferies' embarrassing, low-three-digit-viewer livestream and his past as a rapper.Listen to Episode 1 here: https://soundcloud.com/episode-one-868768631And subscribe here: https://www.patreon.com/e1podcast/posts
Greetings Horror Sickos,Listener, please light a circle of candles and begin to scrawl out the ancient sigils in salt, and begin the accursed chant … “Let’s All Go to the Lobby, Let’s All Go to the Lobby, and Grab Ourselves a Snack”That’s right! Spooky season is upon us and to inaugurate another edition of Ghoulvie Screamset Horrortober, Will Massacre and Hexa Deni are back with a selection of abominable and morally ruinous films.First up, in Return of the Living Dead (O’Bannon, 1985) an assortment of punks, working stiffs and slobs accidentally expose themselves to zombie gas and help bring out the nuclear bombing of Louisville, Kentucky in this documentary about a real thing that actually happened. This hilarious and goofball horror film asks two existentially terrifying questions: What if you could feel every second of being dead? And, do you want to PARRRR-TAY!!!Then in The Blob (Russell, 1988), a sci fi classic gets a grisly and unforgettable remake that features Kevin Dillon playing an motorcycle riding bad boy who smokes cigs, wears a leather jacket and has to save the small town that rejects him for being too cool from a giant blob that digests and dissolves everything in its path. This episode is free, but the rest of Ghoulvie Screamset Season 3 will be paywalled!
