נתבאר לעיל במאמר תוכן הענין ד"זה היום תחלת מעשיך", שהאדם, שנברא בר"ה, ענינו הוא לפעול ב"מעשיך", כל הבריאה, הענין ד"זה היום" ‏–‏ להאיר אותם ולגלות בהם מציאותם האמיתית שהיא עצומ"ה ית', ו"אין עוד מלבדו"! והיינו, לא שהאדם צריך לחדש ולהוות משהו מחדש, כ"א להאיר את העולם ולגלות מציאותו האמיתית שהיא הדבר הוי' שמחדש אותו בכל רגע מאין ואפס המוחלט! כי יכול להיות שהוא מאמין ומבין שזה כך, אבל לפועל לפעמים שוכח א"ז וענינים גשמיים כן תופסים מקום אצלו וחושב שהם מנגדים לקדושה וכו'. וע"ז באה "תורה אור" ומגלה את האמת: רק עכשיו נתהווה העולם מחדש מאין ואפס ע"י ה'! ובמילא אין לעולם וענינים גשמיים מציאות מצ"ע ואין העולם מנגד לקדושה ‏–‏ אדרבה! וכשדבר זה מאיר אצלו, קל לו להשפיע כך גם על הזולת, ועד שגם "הלכו גוים לאורך"! וההכנה לעבודה זו, שמתחילה בר"ה כנ"ל, היא בחודש אלול, ובמיוחד בערב ר"ה, שכבר אז יש לו את הבטחון המוחלט ש"אין עוד"! ובמילא הולך לבטח דרכו לקבלת מלכות ית' בר"ה והליכה בדרך התומ"צ כל השנה הבעל"ט!

It was explained earlier in the maamar that “This day is the beginning of Your works,” that the role of man, who was created on Rosh Hashana, is to imbue “Your works,” all of creation, with “this day” – illuminating the world and revealing that it’s true identity is Hashem’s essence, and that “There is none else besides Him.” Meaning, man’s role isn’t to create something new, but to illuminate the world and show that it is created by Hashem anew at every moment from absolute nothingness. Even if one believes and understands that this is so, he may sometimes forget it, in which case he starts thinking that the world stands in the way of holiness etc.; to this comes the Torah of light and reveals the truth: that the world was just now created by Hashem. Therefore, the world has no existence of its own, and it cannot oppose holiness, but to the contrary. And when this knowledge shines for a person, he can easily influence others in this vein, to the point that even the “nations will go by your light.” And we prepare for this service – which is the service of Rosh Hashana – during the month of Elul, and especially on Erev Rosh Hashana, when we are already absolutely certain that “there is none else besides him.” Therefore, one can go securely on his way to accept Hashem’s kingship on Rosh Hashana, and to follow the path of Torah and mitzvos throughout the entire coming year.
