בתחלת שיעור שישי דפ' כי תבוא נאמר "יתן ה' את אויבך.. בשבעה דרכים ינוסו לפניך". "אויבך" קאי על היצה"ר. והעבודה ד"ינוסו לפניך", שישנה המציאות דיצה"ר אלא שמציאותו היא באופן ד"ינוסו לפניך", היא העבודה דאתכפיא. ולאח"ז באה העבודה דאתהפכא – שהיצה"ר נהפך לטוב. ועבודה זו שייכת לחודש אלול שע"ז קאי מ"ש "ובכתה את אבי'.. ירח ימים" כו' – בכי' של שמחה מצד היציאה מן השבי וכו' [ע"ד הדמעות של שמחה של רבי עקיבא כו']. וע"י עבודה זו ברוחניות פועלים הענין ד"בשבעה דרכים ינוסו מפניך" כפשוטו! ועד כמ"ש בפסוקים שלאח"ז: "וראו כל עמי הארץ כי שם ה' נקרא עליך ויראו ממך" – שמתהפכים לטוב. וזה קשור לענין שהזמ"ג: ישנם כאלו שטוענים שכעת כשיש "שלום" ניתן כבר לישון בשקט וכו' – הנה בימים האחרונים נוסף עוד יותר בהתגרותן של המלכיות אלו באלו, ולכן צריכים היהודים ללכת בתוקף של ה' – "וראו כל עמים הארץ כי שם ה' נקרא עליך" – ועי"ז "ויראו ממך" (ללא צורך להשתמש בנשק שבידם בפועל)!

It says at the beginning of Shishi of Parashas Ki Savo: “Hashem will cause your enemies...[to] flee from you in seven ways.” In spiritual terms, “your enemies” means the yetzer hara; the task of causing it to “flee from you” (meaning it continues to exist, but it flees) is the service of iskafya. Afterwards comes the service of ishapcha – where the yetzer hara is transformed into good. And this service relates to the month of Elul, which is alluded to in the verse “And she shall weep for her father... for a full month…” – tears of joy upon being released from captivity (similar to Rabbi Akiva’s tears of joy). And this spiritual service causes our enemies to “to flee from you in seven ways” in the literal sense, and to the point, as it says in the subsequent verses, that “all the peoples of the earth will see that the name of Hashem is called upon you, and they will fear you” – fear in the sense of respect, meaning they are transformed into helpers. Some people think that now that there’s “peace” we can already sleep quietly, etc. but recently we’ve seen how the conflict between nations has increased, and therefore the Jewish people need to go with the strength of Hashem – “And all the peoples of the earth will see that the name of Hashem is called upon you” – and as a result, “they will fear you” (without the need to actually use weapons).
