00:00:47
Welcome to Bachelor Party!
00:00:48
I'm Julia Ellipman.
00:00:49
It's a special peacock edition of this episode today, because I am joined by Parvadee shallow.
00:00:54
Hi, Parvadee.
00:00:55
Hi, Julia.
00:00:56
I'm so happy you're here.
00:00:58
I told you before we started recording, I've seen all of your seasons of Survivor.
00:01:01
I've been watching Survivor since season 2.
00:01:03
I missed season 1, but I started with Australia, so I feel like I've been present for your whole life, for your ups and your downs.
00:01:09
You really have.
00:01:12
You know a lot about me from that.
00:01:14
Have you gone back and watched season 1, then?
00:01:17
Yeah, I did, like a while ago, but you can't like have the whole lexicon of Survivor without going back and watching the first inaugural season.
00:01:27
So I have gone back to it, but yeah, I love Survivor, so it's so exciting to have you here.
00:01:32
The reason I wanted to have you won was I wanted to get your take on the traitors, and then I was joking on with my co-host on Monday, I was like, "I think I need to watch Dealer No Deal Island.
00:01:43
People keep talking about it."
00:01:45
So I watched Dealer No Deal Island.
00:01:47
Also I hope she doesn't mind, but Sophie Clark texted me saying I should watch Don Dealer No Deal Island.
00:01:52
I love Sophie.
00:01:54
I love that she's promoting the show, that's amazing.
00:01:58
And so now here we are, and you're the star of Dealer No Deal Island.
00:02:01
So I know, it's the dumbest name for a show ever invented.
00:02:06
When Rob did it last year, I was like, "What is this dumb show that Rob is doing?"
00:02:11
And then I watched it, and I was like, "Oh, it's actually pretty entertaining."
00:02:14
It is entertaining.
00:02:16
And Joe was so great.
00:02:17
The host.
00:02:18
Well, okay.
00:02:19
The thing about Dealer No Deal Island is it's super goofy.
00:02:22
I hope you don't mind me saying that.
00:02:24
It's so goofy.
00:02:25
That's what I loved about it.
00:02:26
Survivor is very serious.
00:02:27
It's very intense.
00:02:29
You're stripped to the bare bones of yourself, and you have to have the grit to survive.
00:02:35
This is so campy.
00:02:36
It's like traders camp in a different way on an island, so silly, but also you can win an astronomical amount of money on this game show.
00:02:48
So it was like, "How much can you do it?"
00:02:51
I got to do it.
00:02:52
100 million dollars are hidden all throughout the jungle.
00:02:55
It's like mind-blowing that this dumb, dumb, crazy show, it sounds so silly.
00:03:02
You can win that much money.
00:03:03
So it's like, "It's kind of exploded my brain when I watched it."
00:03:08
I think the show is kind of exploding.
00:03:09
I feel like there's the steady buzz of Dealer No Deal Island, maybe because the name is goofy.
00:03:15
I don't know why, so let's just explain the premise of it.
00:03:20
It's actually, it's surprising.
00:03:22
It is Dealer No Deal meat survivor hosted by Joe Manginello, who's also from Magic Mike Fame.
00:03:30
Yes.
00:03:31
You got moves.
00:03:32
Magic Mike and ex-husband of Sofia Vergara.
00:03:36
I didn't know he could host.
00:03:37
We'll come back to him, but how would you describe the show?
00:03:40
What's the patch?
00:03:41
What is happening on this show?
00:03:42
Okay.
00:03:43
So there's three different aspects of the show.
00:03:45
One is camp life.
00:03:47
So there's like 12 or 13 people that start the game, and we're living on this luxury private island in these beautiful geodesic domes.
00:03:55
I would call the yurt, but okay.
00:03:58
Okay.
00:03:59
I like, you know, the technical name for them, but you know, potato tomato.
00:04:04
Okay.
00:04:05
So we're in these beautiful lodgings, and everyone's kind of getting to know each other.
00:04:09
So there's the social game, people are making alliances, but then you have these challenges that are like hectic and complicated and involve math and also physicality,
00:04:21
and the social dynamic from the camp comes into play in these challenges.
00:04:27
So these challenges are really like the bones of the show, the way that I see it.
00:04:31
So you got to figure out these challenges instantly.
00:04:34
So if you're a viewer watching the show, I think like the best way you can really get into it is sort of putting yourself in this position of like, what would I do in this challenge?
00:04:43
Like, who would I pair up with?
00:04:45
And the two, yeah, you'd pair up with someone for the challenge and the challenge allows you, if you win the challenge, you can get money, but B, you don't have to view, you don't have to face the banker who is a shadowy shadowy figure,
00:04:58
shadowy lurking ominous presence.
00:05:01
The banker is like the sadistic kind of presence in the background, like the doctor evil of the show that we haven't met yet.
00:05:07
We don't know who they are.
00:05:08
Yes.
00:05:09
The banker is currently anonymous.
00:05:10
The banker calls Joe Manginello to be like, I have a deal for you, I have an offer for you.
00:05:15
Well, just like a dealer no deal.
00:05:17
And as always saying, some snarky comment about the player, it was competing in the game, like something nasty, but we never hear it.
00:05:25
But that's the purpose of the challenge, right?
00:05:28
Is because then the third part of the show is a classic game of dealer no deal.
00:05:33
Classic game of dealer no deal, where the person who was, or one of the people who was in the bottom at the challenge, like who lost the challenge, the worst, the hardest, the biggest hardest loser of the challenge,
00:05:45
can be put up to face the banker.
00:05:47
And there's like maybe three or four or five people who are available to be put up to face the banker.
00:05:54
And then the people who win the challenge get to choose who goes up against the banker.
00:05:59
That was very much like the challenge.
00:06:02
Have you ever watched the challenge?
00:06:03
Okay, yeah.
00:06:04
And I know my friend Michelle is on the challenge.
00:06:05
So I've watched a couple.
00:06:06
Of course.
00:06:07
That's the challenge.
00:06:08
Who I love.
00:06:09
Yes.
00:06:10
Someone's on challenge USA, but Michelle is core challenge now.
00:06:12
She also, she's in a challenge relationship, so she's even more core to it.
00:06:16
Like, it's just all, we all are like kind of spreading our wings.
00:06:21
Did they break up?
00:06:22
I'm worried you're telling me they broke up.
00:06:23
No, actually, I don't know.
00:06:24
I haven't kept up with her relationship.
00:06:26
I'm pretty sure there's those together.
00:06:27
I love him.
00:06:28
So I hope for them to be happy.
00:06:29
I loved Evan.
00:06:30
Okay.
00:06:31
We're cheering for them.
00:06:32
We're ahead of them all the way.
00:06:33
We are.
00:06:34
Well, if it's Gerald is like, challenge is like deep challenge now.
00:06:37
I think of her challenge not survivor, even though she was a survivor.
00:06:41
Yeah.
00:06:42
And she's kind of hardcore.
00:06:43
Like, she's been lifting weights, which she was not when she played survivor.
00:06:47
I think she's challenged changed her life, honestly.
00:06:49
She's like a different person than you saw on Survivor, I would say, as a, as a challenge player.
00:06:54
She, a way she approaches it.
00:06:55
But anyway.
00:06:56
I love that for her.
00:06:57
Yeah.
00:06:58
Okay.
00:06:59
She's locked to podcast too with Kelly.
00:07:01
Oh, wait.
00:07:02
I can't wait to listen.
00:07:03
I'm going to be a guest.
00:07:04
Next week.
00:07:05
I'm going to be on their show.
00:07:06
I love those girls.
00:07:07
Okay.
00:07:08
So this is how you have to watch dealer no deal.
00:07:10
It's sort of like erratic and just how we digressed and had a separate conversation about Michelle.
00:07:16
It's kind of how you have to watch the show.
00:07:17
It's like, phase in, phase out, let your brain kind of percolate on it.
00:07:21
Watch the show.
00:07:22
Take a few walks around the block after you're done and let it sit with you.
00:07:26
So you can kind of understand the layers of like doing Molly.
00:07:31
It's like take it, take some Molly and then just go for a walk.
00:07:34
Just vibe with it.
00:07:35
Yeah.
00:07:36
vibe with it.
00:07:37
See how you feel.
00:07:38
It basically is ecstasy.
00:07:40
Yeah.
00:07:41
I mean, it is like so strange.
00:07:43
So the banker is like the big bad of the show.
00:07:47
Last season, season one, it was Howie Mandel, which of course makes sense.
00:07:50
He is the original host of dealer no deal.
00:07:51
This season, all we know so far is it's a woman.
00:07:55
And that's kind of all we have.
00:07:57
My deepest wish for dealer no deal Island is that the banker turns out to be Meghan Markle because she was, she held a, she held a briefcase on dealer no deal.
00:08:07
Oh, I think you are on track.
00:08:10
I'll just say you're on the scent, keep sniffing around.
00:08:13
It would be next impossible for actually Meghan Markle, but now I know it was someone who was involved.
00:08:19
Okay.
00:08:20
Good to know.
00:08:21
I can't say anymore.
00:08:22
Yeah, you can't say anything.
00:08:23
You are a super detective.
00:08:24
I'll just say that.
00:08:25
Thank you so much.
00:08:26
So did you have fun on dealer no deal Island?
00:08:29
Oh my God.
00:08:30
It was.
00:08:31
Julia, the most fun I have ever had playing any game ever had.
00:08:38
Wow.
00:08:39
Wow.
00:08:40
It was such a blast because it doesn't take itself seriously.
00:08:44
It's so playful.
00:08:45
I literally made a family, a fake family on this island.
00:08:49
And I had a 25 day or however long the game was role play going and it was so fun.
00:08:56
It was like, it was like an elongated improv experience.
00:09:01
Where I could win millions of dollars.
00:09:02
So I'm like, I had the best time.
00:09:04
We got fed.
00:09:05
We were in bed sleeping at night when there were storms.
00:09:08
I was dry.
00:09:10
And the challenges aren't like, they're not like traitors challenges are creepy and dark.
00:09:17
Like you could have to get buried alive or something.
00:09:21
And survivor challenges are just grueling and torturous.
00:09:25
These challenges were like, okay.
00:09:28
Like run around the island basically.
00:09:29
Yeah.
00:09:30
Okay, let's just like try and you could get lucky.
00:09:36
And there's so many ways to win and so many opportunities to win.
00:09:39
It's not just one path to victory.
00:09:41
So yeah, I literally had the best time.
00:09:43
I would encourage anyone to apply to play this game because it's so fun.
00:09:48
Do you?
00:09:49
I'm glad you brought up the traitors because that's really what I want to talk about.
00:09:52
No offense to dealer.
00:09:53
No due island.
00:09:54
I do think is like a thing.
00:09:56
I think it's going to explode.
00:09:57
Girl, you're going to love it.
00:09:58
No.
00:09:59
I'm up to date.
00:10:00
I mean, I will be watching, but I'm just staying in general.
00:10:03
I feel like it is having a moment, dealer, no due island.
00:10:07
And though that moment is going to last, it's just going to get better and better.
00:10:11
I can't wait for people's reactions.
00:10:13
Did you go on it because like Rob convinced you like what like, do they reach out to you?
00:10:17
How did you end up on the show?
00:10:18
Yeah.
00:10:19
Well, I know I have a relationship with NBC and peacock from playing traitors.
00:10:23
I watched Rob play the game.
00:10:24
I saw how much money you could win and how fun it looked.
00:10:27
And when they reached out to ask me to play, I had already committed to play survivor Australia versus the world because they had asked me in like February of last year.
00:10:39
And I was like, oh my god, that yes, that will be my swan song for survivor.
00:10:43
I really wanted to play the Australian version.
00:10:47
I thought I had a better chance playing with some international players in the US.
00:10:51
So I immediately said yes to that game.
00:10:54
And then Sharon, who is the executive who asked me to play for traitors, called me and was like, what do you do, dealer, no deal?
00:11:02
And I'm like, oh gosh, I don't know when is it.
00:11:05
And she's told me when it was filming.
00:11:07
And it was like a month before I had to leave to go play Australian survivor.
00:11:11
So I was really on the fence because I don't like leaving my daughter that long, her back to back because you can't make a phone call.
00:11:17
You can't talk to anyone when you're playing these games.
00:11:19
I like, I really invest myself heavily when I say yes to these games.
00:11:24
So I know what's required of me when I say yes.
00:11:27
So I was like, oh, I don't know.
00:11:29
And then Rob called me and he was like, "Pav, you got to do it."
00:11:33
I was like, okay, I'll do it.
00:11:37
So it didn't take much to twist my arm.
00:11:40
That's really funny.
00:11:41
Where is the island in dealer, no deal island?
00:11:43
It's an undisclosed private island.
00:11:45
Oh, you see, you can't say.
00:11:47
Wow.
00:11:48
They told me I could say but I kind of like the mystique of it being an undisclosed.
00:11:53
Could you give me a region like is it in the Caribbean?
00:11:55
Central America.
00:11:56
Central America.
00:11:57
Okay.
00:11:58
Okay.
00:11:59
Cool.
00:12:00
On the topic of Boston Rob and the traders, what do you think it was game so far on the traders?
00:12:05
Well, I think it was weird how they introduced him.
00:12:08
So I just feel like they're like, we're having Boston Rob on this season.
00:12:11
And they're just like that.
00:12:12
That was decided.
00:12:13
And they tried to get him in one way and it didn't work so then they put him in a different way.
00:12:18
And I think they were trying to help him out.
00:12:19
I mean, look, he missed like two round tables.
00:12:23
So he already avoided being banished and murdered for like a good chunk of time where the beginning is really hard because that's when the paranoia really ramps up and sort of all the spotlights are on.
00:12:35
Yeah.
00:12:36
The bigger reality show targets.
00:12:38
So Rob missed that.
00:12:39
I kind of skated by that with his intro.
00:12:41
But they put a big weird awkward spotlight on him where it was like obvious no one wanted him in the game.
00:12:48
I know.
00:12:49
Well, I think he immediately proved why he, I thought his, the way he handled the round table in episode three was masterful.
00:12:57
Like honestly, genius and how he didn't like really, he said a true fact about Tony that like just cast a ton of data about him, but didn't actually like turn on Tony.
00:13:07
I thought that was absolutely genius.
00:13:09
And I'm like, yeah, this is why they got to get rid of him.
00:13:12
Well, I love Rob's brilliant first of all at getting people.
00:13:17
It's like, here's what Rob, Rob's energy is that people want him to like them.
00:13:23
He has this kind of weird daddy energy seems bad.
00:13:26
But I'm just like after all these years, people are still like, I need Rob to like me.
00:13:29
Yeah.
00:13:30
Cause he's like, got it.
00:13:32
Some people got it.
00:13:33
He's got it.
00:13:34
He's the daddy.
00:13:35
He's got daddy and daddy of the season.
00:13:37
Who is daddy last season for you?
00:13:40
CT.
00:13:41
I never got that.
00:13:42
I never got it.
00:13:44
I was like, this guy, this guy, you really didn't want to challenge.
00:13:49
I did.
00:13:50
I did it.
00:13:51
Oh my goodness.
00:13:52
It's so funny.
00:13:53
Yeah.
00:13:54
I can't really.
00:13:55
The idea of CT being called castle daddy really resonates for me, but him being castle daddy does not for me either, but anyway, that's a Jacoinda and Fagia can do no wrong.
00:14:06
Oh my god.
00:14:07
She's perfect.
00:14:08
I agree.
00:14:09
She's also flawless.
00:14:10
Like Rob a genius.
00:14:11
She's got her holiday card and I just finally opened my holiday cards.
00:14:16
It's like middle of January and she has two boys and one is like, she tells their titles, their career titles in the holiday card.
00:14:24
One is like a crypto entrepreneur and they're like, he's like 14 years old.
00:14:28
And the other one is like some kind of mogul like business owner, mogul, I'm like, he's 12.
00:14:34
She's the best.
00:14:38
She's so, so good.
00:14:40
I think the trader seems really hard to win like really hard.
00:14:44
So when you went into it, like did you think you had a chance of winning?
00:14:49
I wasn't really playing traders as like, I'm going to win this game.
00:14:54
It was more, I played right after I had come through a really difficult divorce.
00:15:01
And so it was sort of like, can I do this?
00:15:04
Like it's been so long since I've played any games.
00:15:07
I've played winners at war season 40 of Survivor and I did so badly.
00:15:13
I was like, I don't know if I still got it.
00:15:15
It was kind of a test for me to just like see what I could do.
00:15:20
And then when I was at the roundtable in Larsa call me out first thing, I was like, oh, here we go.
00:15:25
Like, I guess game on, I never really was like, it's hard to win that game as a trader.
00:15:33
If you're not a great liar or if you like can't kind of cloak and dagger yourself.
00:15:39
Like Suri is a good friend of mine and she won season one and I think that's a testament to her social game.
00:15:45
She's really good at she brings the mama energy like Rob the daddy series, the mama and everyone loves her.
00:15:52
She is underestimated every time there's a camera on her.
00:15:56
I do not understand like is anyone paying attention?
00:15:59
I mean, it was the same on Survivor.
00:16:01
She went so far because everyone loved her.
00:16:02
Well, I'll tell you why because she shines like the sun on your face and you're like, you're like, oh, it's so warm here and cozy.
00:16:12
I got to stay close to you because she's amazing.
00:16:16
So, I mean, she, I think she is one of the only people who could win as a trader because of that capacity that she has innately.
00:16:24
Rob's going to have a really hard time, but he's so good at the roundtables.
00:16:29
He's going to be so good at the roundtables.
00:16:31
He's really good at kind of directing conversation.
00:16:35
He doesn't shy away from face to face full frontal combat like that was really scary for me.
00:16:41
I'm more of like a, I will betray you behind your back, but I'm not going to like, I don't love a face to face verbal combat situation.
00:16:52
But yeah, I think we're going to see Rob shine at the round table.
00:16:55
How do you think Carolyn will do?
00:16:56
Because my supposition is she will go far because her quirkiness will really throw people off a cent.
00:17:03
Like, they won't be able to know she's being erratic because she's a trader or she's being erratic because of who she is.
00:17:08
Oh, and she's already set the stage of being completely erratic from the very beginning.
00:17:13
Like, we saw the conversation where she's sitting with Jeremy and he's like, I got you and she's like, oh, I don't know.
00:17:21
I love him.
00:17:26
Do you see the way he looks at her?
00:17:27
He's like, girl, I think he doesn't, yeah, I think he's confused.
00:17:31
So I think that really works in her favor.
00:17:34
Like, that was smart producing by the show to make her a trader.
00:17:37
She's, and she's really strategic.
00:17:40
She gets so underestimated like, if you watch her season of survivor, the first thing she does is she finds a way to get this immunity idol out of a cage where everyone can see it.
00:17:51
And then she puts a fake one in there and no one suspects her.
00:17:53
I'm like, she's smart.
00:17:55
She's good at these games and she's going to be underestimated because, like you said, she's kooky.
00:18:00
So if anyone can win as a trader, that's Carolyn.
00:18:03
I totally agree with you.
00:18:05
It just seems like a really hard game.
00:18:07
Like, what is the strategy?
00:18:09
Like, how, like, if you had to sum it up, like, I feel like what survivor there's a couple different types of games that people are familiar with now, but like, overall, it's like, you have to be present and strong without being too dominant.
00:18:23
And then, like, if you're like, if you can win a ton of challenges, like, good on you, I feel like what would you say is like the strategy for traders?
00:18:32
You really have to work with your personality.
00:18:36
So if you have a personality that is extroverted, kind of, um, ditsy, air-headie, like, phage to pull that off, very warm,
00:18:46
that's so helpful because people are completely paranoid and shell shocked and afraid to speak.
00:18:54
So people are like, they lock up like clams and you just walk around room to room and you're like, I don't know what to say because everything I say can be used against me.
00:19:03
But if you have a personality like Carolyn who can be like, kind of goofy, kind of silly, kind of like, well, I don't know and act like you have no idea what's going on and be a trader,
00:19:14
then that's a good strategy.
00:19:16
If you have that personality and you're a faithful, we just saw it with who just got murdered so the funny housewife.
00:19:22
Oh.
00:19:23
Durinda?
00:19:24
No.
00:19:25
The funny one who's the model, who's hilarious.
00:19:27
Oh.
00:19:28
Ion.
00:19:29
Ion, yeah.
00:19:30
Oh, my God.
00:19:31
I loved her.
00:19:32
I was sad that she got murdered.
00:19:33
I know.
00:19:34
She's a fan.
00:19:35
She's a fan favorite for people watching Dubai.
00:19:36
So if she had been a trader, she could have done well.
00:19:39
And that personality as a faithful, she's going to, you're going to get murdered.
00:19:44
So it's like you either do pull a crescendo where you're like, I'm so nervous.
00:19:51
And then you like, you find out who the traders are and then you connect with them and you're like, oh, you're definitely not a trader.
00:19:59
Like you tell the trader that they're not a trader and you trust them.
00:20:02
And then you act really scared all the time.
00:20:04
That's a good strategy.
00:20:05
That's what Bob's kind of doing.
00:20:06
That scared is like pushing back really hard, but Bob, the drag queen, I feel like is, that's sort of like what he's doing right now.
00:20:12
But he's a trader.
00:20:13
Right.
00:20:14
Right.
00:20:15
So it would be good if he was a faithful, cosying up to a trader and saying like, oh, I know, you're not a trader.
00:20:22
Like, like, I got your back 100% and like kind of fight for them at the round table and whatever.
00:20:28
Like, so that you just so you don't get murdered.
00:20:29
Right.
00:20:30
Because the scary thing is that it's a faithful.
00:20:32
Anyone can take you out at any time.
00:20:33
I know.
00:20:34
It's crazy.
00:20:35
It's such a chaotic game, like more so than really any of the other games that are on TV right now.
00:20:41
Like I think it's the hardest one.
00:20:42
That's why I'm curious like to hear you explain strategy, cos I'm like, I don't really know.
00:20:47
Like, there's like so much luck involved too, just like what people believe and don't believe.
00:20:52
It's really what makes it extra hard is there's so many people.
00:20:56
Mm-hmm.
00:20:57
So like the way that I approach these competitions is you form relationships as quick as you can.
00:21:03
You want to get to know people.
00:21:04
You want to bond with them quickly so you have someone who's got your back.
00:21:08
But when there's so many people and everyone's already really suspicious of everybody off the bat, it's really hard to form relationships.
00:21:17
Right.
00:21:18
So it's like how do you connect with someone if you don't trust, because as a faithful, you don't know anything.
00:21:23
And when I was a faithful, I was a faithful for like two days.
00:21:27
I was like in a car with Sandra, MJ, Janelle, and someone else.
00:21:35
And I was like, all these people could be traitors.
00:21:38
Right.
00:21:39
Like, how do I know?
00:21:40
And they're all looking at me like, hey, we're all faithfuls.
00:21:43
We got to do this.
00:21:44
Whatever.
00:21:45
And I'm like, how do they know?
00:21:46
We're all faithfuls.
00:21:47
It just twisted my brain up.
00:21:50
If I were you, it would have been hard for me to believe Sandra with anything she said, like literally anything.
00:21:54
So of course.
00:21:55
Yeah.
00:21:56
It's just really interesting as a survivor fan, I haven't watched Big Brother like ever.
00:22:02
But I've watched all the other shows that are involved.
00:22:04
I don't understand why in all three seasons, season one was like half normies, half reality people.
00:22:12
I don't understand why the survivor people aren't targeted from the beginning.
00:22:15
Like I just don't get it.
00:22:16
Like they, it's more strategic.
00:22:18
Big brother as well, but I feel like Big Brother, they really focus on each other and they're like very competitive with each other.
00:22:24
I don't understand why the Bravo women are seen as such a threat, like just because they are like a cohort, whereas the survivor players are so strategic from minute one.
00:22:33
And like it's just surprising to me.
00:22:35
I think in the beginning, it's like anything to break up a group.
00:22:41
Mm-hmm.
00:22:42
And I think people saw Fadra and Kate last season and then-- Yeah, Cynthia.
00:22:47
Oh, and if it, if they're seen as a tight group, which the Bravo women will, they do back each other up.
00:22:54
Mm-hmm.
00:22:55
The survivor players are more splintered because we have beef with each other.
00:22:58
Right.
00:22:59
Like Tony blindsided Jeremy, and does Jeremy trust Tony?
00:23:03
I don't know.
00:23:04
Rob and Tony are trying to fight each other.
00:23:06
Trust Tony.
00:23:07
It's just, it's like not even a question.
00:23:08
Like no, you can't trust Tony.
00:23:10
So I think that's why people are targeting the housewives right away because they're seen as like this tight kind of interaction.
00:23:16
Interesting.
00:23:17
To me, it just seems like a waste of time because they're just playing in a different way.
00:23:22
But what you say is really interesting is I have personally, as a viewer, taken a real liking to the trio of Nikki, Khrushal, and Gabby, and I feel like what they're doing is very similar to what you're describing for success,
00:23:35
for Faithball.
00:23:36
And so I, I hope those three go far.
00:23:38
I'm like shocked, but I'm like really rooting for Khrushal.
00:23:41
I hope she wins.
00:23:42
I love Khrushal.
00:23:44
Me too.
00:23:45
She's shining.
00:23:46
This is like, she's, let's get her off-selling sunset.
00:23:47
This is way better for her.
00:23:49
Oh, I'm like do everything you can, girl, get your back because she is so gorgeous.
00:23:54
Yeah.
00:23:55
And she's so kind.
00:23:56
She does seem kind.
00:23:57
Yeah.
00:23:58
Yeah.
00:23:59
And she's like really supportive of people and that I think is something that we need to acknowledge as women and celebrate and lift it up and put a spotlight on it because not every attractive,
00:24:12
like charismatic woman is a supporter of other women.
00:24:17
She comes across as a real girls girl in a way that like selling sunset didn't want you to know about.
00:24:23
I don't know if you watched that show, but in season one, it is really some bigger style.
00:24:27
In her first season, she was introduced as like the favorite of Jason, like the boss.
00:24:32
And like having, having a beef with some of the other women.
00:24:36
But as I've seen her more and more, she seems like a real like girls girl and like also very loyal.
00:24:41
And I'm like, I'm like all in on Khrushal now.
00:24:43
I'm just like I'm rooting for her success on the traders and elsewhere.
00:24:46
And I hope she's doing great.
00:24:48
Agree.
00:24:49
Agree in every way.
00:24:50
I think it's, that's just the stereotype of, if it's a pretty girl.
00:24:54
Yeah.
00:24:55
And she's like shines and has some kind of magnetism and power.
00:25:01
Then it's like, oh, we got to make sure like she's fulfilling the stereotype of Kadi bitch.
00:25:07
Yeah.
00:25:08
Khrushal is not that at all.
00:25:10
Like not.
00:25:11
Which, it's cool.
00:25:12
That's coming through on the traders.
00:25:13
Yeah.
00:25:14
We're getting to see that.
00:25:19
Can I ask you about survivor Australia in your experience of Australia versus the world?
00:25:23
Okay.
00:25:24
Once they're coming out.
00:25:25
July, I think.
00:25:27
Okay.
00:25:28
Great.
00:25:29
Was it in the outback?
00:25:30
No.
00:25:31
It was in Samoa.
00:25:32
And you know, I have unfinished business in Samoa.
00:25:34
Wow.
00:25:35
Wow.
00:25:36
Did you have any interpretation going back there?
00:25:37
No.
00:25:38
I was like, this is my moment.
00:25:40
I was like, I left my victory in Samoa season 20 and I got to go back and claim it.
00:25:47
I was like fueled by this sense of reclamation.
00:25:51
Like this is going to be my time to reclaim what was meant to be mine 20 years ago.
00:25:58
That's so interesting.
00:25:59
Survivor Australia has a reputation of being really hard, like very difficult and grueling.
00:26:06
I think it's usually like two months long for regular seasons, isn't it like a crazy number of days?
00:26:11
It's like 50 days.
00:26:12
Yeah.
00:26:13
Like that's wild.
00:26:15
And so one of your fellow contestants on Deal or No Deal Island right now is like the Golden God of Survivor Australia.
00:26:20
What's his name again?
00:26:21
His name is David.
00:26:22
David, right?
00:26:23
Oh my God.
00:26:24
Okay.
00:26:25
I had been watching links of seasons of Survivor Australia because I was preparing to go play.
00:26:31
I hadn't watched Australian Survivor before, so I didn't know who any of the people were.
00:26:35
And I was like watching David season in the hotel before we started the game.
00:26:41
And I saw him on day one in my head.
00:26:44
I was like, Oh my God, I'm so excited, because I was like, yes, probably no one else is going to know who this is because it's hard to watch Australian Survivor in the US.
00:26:56
So I was like, if I can play with this guy and keep his secret and nobody knows, and I'm the out like the forward facing threat.
00:27:04
And he's just kind of doing his work in the shadows and working for me as well.
00:27:08
I'm good.
00:27:09
I'm solid.
00:27:10
I was like the most exciting moment for me.
00:27:13
And he's about us.
00:27:15
He seems like a kind of nice guy too.
00:27:17
I like him so far.
00:27:18
Yeah.
00:27:19
This woman Sidney who I think the most people didn't like including myself really took a shine turns him right away.
00:27:25
And he was just sort of like trying to be respectful, like walk away slowly, so I thought that was like pretty funny.
00:27:32
But was your experience playing Survivor Australia more difficult than American Survivor?
00:27:40
It was, I wouldn't, it's hard to compare it.
00:27:46
I would say it was extremely difficult.
00:27:49
It was a game that was compressed.
00:27:52
So it went really fast.
00:27:53
It was 16 days rather than 39, which is what I'm used to.
00:27:57
And now the news seasons of the US are 26 days.
00:28:01
So it was, it was a tight game.
00:28:03
And all the players were from on my tribe, different countries.
00:28:07
Cool.
00:28:08
Except for me, Ciri and Tony.
00:28:09
Oh, wow.
00:28:10
So the three Americans.
00:28:11
Yeah.
00:28:12
That's really funny.
00:28:13
Yeah.
00:28:14
I love Ciri.
00:28:15
She passed.
00:28:16
She is my survivor soul mate.
00:28:19
Oh.
00:28:20
Yeah.
00:28:21
My heart.
00:28:22
She is part of my heart forever.
00:28:23
I love her so much.
00:28:23
How'd you interact with Tony much on winners at war?
00:28:27
No, I didn't play with him at all.
00:28:29
So this was like your first Tony experience.
00:28:30
My first playing a game with Tony.
00:28:32
I'd interviewed him because I hosted the Survivor after show when he won.
00:28:37
So I'd interviewed him.
00:28:37
His energy is like really hectic.
00:28:40
So I knew that about him, but I'd never played with him.
00:28:43
So I didn't really know how he played.
00:28:44
Interesting.
00:28:45
So first.
00:28:46
You now have a lot of experience of playing with people who have been on TV before.
00:28:50
And then you go on dealer, no deal island.
00:28:52
And you're mostly people who have not been on TV before.
00:28:55
Do you prefer being amongst like your other gamers or do you like being with like a new crop of people who are feeling out like what it means to be on camera?
00:29:04
It was so fun playing with new people who've never done this before and they were all really young.
00:29:11
I call them the Dawson's Creek crew.
00:29:12
Yeah.
00:29:13
So I heard you say that.
00:29:14
I loved it.
00:29:15
Cute little cuties, but the thing is they're they're just a little bit rookie.
00:29:21
So they don't know how to like strategize.
00:29:23
Right.
00:29:24
So I would have conversations with them and I would be like, here's the deal.
00:29:27
This is what's going on.
00:29:28
And they'd be like, nah, I'd be like, okay, you definitely saw that with Sydney who used her time like to like apologize to everyone,
00:29:40
like sorry for how I acted.
00:29:42
And like while I appreciate that and like as a human impulse, I don't think it's like the winning strategy for any competition game, essentially.
00:29:52
Yeah.
00:29:53
I just can't like switch that part of my brain off.
00:29:55
So I have this, I have the skill that I have refined over 20 years of playing these games uniquely.
00:30:05
And I'm like, okay, I can see what someone is going to do before they do it because I can see what you think is best for you and how I fit in that and how this person fits in that.
00:30:17
And I'm going to, like if you're working with me, I am going to help you.
00:30:20
I'm going to support you creating, making the right decisions for you.
00:30:23
But if you don't know that I'm doing that for you and you think you know better, you're going to do whatever you want.
00:30:31
And so I kind of enjoyed that about them because look, I have a six year old.
00:30:36
I'm a mom.
00:30:37
Right.
00:30:38
My daughter does that.
00:30:39
Like, I can't control her.
00:30:40
I can tell her, eat your broccoli, but she can be like, uh, no.
00:30:44
No.
00:30:45
And I'm like, okay, well, do you then, girl, like you can be healthy or not.
00:30:50
I don't care.
00:30:51
It's like, I'll offer it up.
00:30:53
But then these newbies, they're going to, they're going to do their own thing, which I found to be really entertaining for me as a player.
00:31:01
And I think as a viewer watching it, I think you'll like that, too, because I'm like, why did, I was like talking to my friends at NBC after the exact, who put me on the show.
00:31:11
Why do you guys even bring on reality show, yeah, Chinatos, if these newbies aren't going to listen to us?
00:31:19
Like, it's a good question.
00:31:20
Coach, I'm up.
00:31:21
Tell them, like, listen to the, but you know, I just kind of like it, too, because they're such a wild card.
00:31:26
They just make things like unpredictable in their own way.
00:31:29
Right.
00:31:30
That's the interesting.
00:31:31
I have to ask you another question.
00:31:32
Crap.
00:31:33
Oh.
00:31:34
Is it about my book?
00:31:35
Yeah.
00:31:36
I'd love to hear about your book.
00:31:37
And then I did want to just, you know, circle back to Cook Island, which I also were to use my, my favorite season.
00:31:42
I can't.
00:31:43
I am dead.
00:31:44
I can't believe.
00:31:45
Why?
00:31:46
People will say that to you.
00:31:47
I mean, no.
00:31:48
It's a great season.
00:31:49
It's the first immunity idle season.
00:31:52
Oh, the, the super powerful immunity idle that you could play before the votes were read.
00:31:58
Yeah.
00:31:59
You look exactly.
00:32:00
So messed up.
00:32:01
No, I played.
00:32:02
Yeah.
00:32:03
Before.
00:32:04
Before.
00:32:05
But after voting.
00:32:06
Yeah.
00:32:07
Like after voting.
00:32:08
No, no.
00:32:09
No, before voting.
00:32:10
No, it was, it was after because I remember you playing, it was like a, it was like a, it was like a near concept.
00:32:16
Yeah.
00:32:17
Yeah.
00:32:18
It was, well, the only person I have ever spoken with says Cook Islands is your favorite season, but I love that about you.
00:32:26
Thank you so much.
00:32:27
You're my own drum.
00:32:28
Thank you.
00:32:29
It also was something that would never happen again.
00:32:32
It's the season that began with the tribes divided by race.
00:32:35
And they would literally never, ever do that again.
00:32:39
But in like, it was controversial at the time.
00:32:41
It turned into a really good season and they mixed it up.
00:32:43
But then like, there's the way that Jonathan Penner played and like, you all was so strategic like in like a way where you're just like, what is this, why is this guy here?
00:32:54
Like what's going on?
00:32:55
Yeah.
00:32:56
And the final four that made it were so compelling, I don't know.
00:32:58
I love that season.
00:32:59
I love that, bro.
00:33:00
Thanks for being a part of it.
00:33:02
You went pretty far.
00:33:03
You were top eight for that, weren't you?
00:33:04
I went pretty far.
00:33:05
I think.
00:33:06
Yeah.
00:33:07
Something like that.
00:33:08
So you've got so much going on, you're on, you know, like, on a million shows a year.
00:33:13
You are a yoga instructor and you have a book coming out.
00:33:18
I've throttled back on the yoga.
00:33:19
So I'm not doing that very much anymore.
00:33:21
I will.
00:33:22
I do workshops and like more life coaching and business coaching.
00:33:28
So I'm doing that as my other thing.
00:33:31
But yeah, I wrote a book and that was what's it called?
00:33:35
It's called Nice Girls Don't Win.
00:33:37
Well, it's not true.
00:33:39
You've proved that to not be true, although I guess it's the black widow you've won.
00:33:44
It is from, I don't know if you recall my feud with Sandra from last year or the year before, before we did traders, we had a bit of a feud online, online, yeah.
00:33:54
And she went into like some chat room and was saying, Oh, spend some time with Parvideon in Ireland.
00:33:59
You'll know she's not that nice.
00:34:01
And then I responded because Tyson sent me, Tyson sent it to me because he likes to fan the flames.
00:34:08
So I responded back and I was like, Call me anything you want, but don't call me nice.
00:34:11
Nice girls don't win survivor or build lives they love.
00:34:15
And it's sort of a play on that like Sandra and I are cool now, like no beef with Sandra.
00:34:20
We've squashed that.
00:34:21
But I pulled that because I teach classes on how to stand in your own authentic power.
00:34:29
And really it's about stopping people pleasing.
00:34:33
And I see this in so many women especially, and some men who are like really nice people, like don't want to rock the boat and want people to get along.
00:34:43
And you know, sometimes it it causes this dynamic where you won't stand up for yourself.
00:34:49
You won't ask for what you want.
00:34:50
You won't negotiate like, so I want people to know it's okay to be your authentic self.
00:34:56
It's okay to speak your truth.
00:34:57
It's okay to get what you want.
00:34:59
It's okay to ask for what you want and stand up for yourself.
00:35:02
I mean, you're going to see in the season of Deal or No Deal, a dynamic with Dr.
00:35:07
Will.
00:35:08
And I.
00:35:09
I'm excited.
00:35:10
I was just like, I don't I'm not with this situate.
00:35:17
I'm not with it.
00:35:18
I'm not down with this vibe.
00:35:19
Like, if someone is going to be disrespectful and so self-absorbed that they're making everything always about them and causing, you know,
00:35:30
everyone else's problems, including like on the production side everywhere.
00:35:35
I was like, I'm going to say something to this person and you know, so it's kind of like my book is a reclamation of playing your voice, standing your power, know that if you're feeling stuck,
00:35:46
you can get to the other side.
00:35:48
And.
00:35:49
That's awesome.
00:35:50
Yeah.
00:35:51
I'm excited for people to read it.
00:35:52
It's very vulnerable and very intimate.
00:35:54
That's awesome.
00:35:55
Some steamy scenes in there.
00:35:57
Okay.
00:35:58
About your life.
00:35:59
Yes.
00:36:00
Ooh.
00:36:01
Okay.
00:36:02
What a cheese.
00:36:03
Can't wait.
00:36:04
It gets pretty spicy.
00:36:05
Okay.
00:36:06
Exciting.
00:36:07
So I'm a little nervous too for people to come out.
00:36:10
It is available for pre-order now.
00:36:11
So if you go on Amazon, you can order it or any kind of like online.
00:36:15
If you go to parvityshallow.com, you can find a way to pre-order it.
00:36:18
Okay.
00:36:19
But it will be published and out in your people's hands July 8th.
00:36:22
Oh, great.
00:36:23
But it aligns with, I'll see you being on Survivor Australia.
00:36:26
Yeah.
00:36:27
That's awesome.
00:36:28
I'm really looking forward to that.
00:36:29
I would like to watch Survivor Australia here in America.
00:36:31
I got to figure that out.
00:36:32
Who's your pick to win the Traders?
00:36:34
Carolyn.
00:36:35
Carolyn.
00:36:36
I think she's in a win too.
00:36:37
I don't know.
00:36:38
She's just too confusing.
00:36:39
Like I just think of advantage.
00:36:40
I know.
00:36:41
She boggles people's minds.
00:36:42
They don't know what to do with her.
00:36:43
They don't know what to do with her.
00:36:44
I'm just like, what are we, what's going on here?
00:36:46
So.
00:36:47
Yeah.
00:36:48
And she's so good at acting dumb.
00:36:49
But you see her in the turret, like saying the right thing.
00:36:52
Like, only people will listen to her.
00:36:54
And I know what it's like to be in the turret and you're so exhausted.
00:36:57
And you know exactly what's the right move.
00:36:59
But your other traders aren't listening to you and you're just like, oh, fine, murder whoever you want.
00:37:03
I have actually one last question.
00:37:05
Sorry.
00:37:06
What are the lodgings like on the Traders?
00:37:08
Like, is your room nice?
00:37:09
We never see them.
00:37:11
It's so cush.
00:37:12
Oh, you know what?
00:37:13
I know you can't answer that because I actually know that you don't stay in the house.
00:37:15
You stay at a hotel and they bust you in every day, but you don't have to confer a day.
00:37:20
What?
00:37:21
What?
00:37:22
What?
00:37:23
Julia.
00:37:24
You don't need to confer more tonight.
00:37:25
I know that.
00:37:26
I know that's true.
00:37:27
I know that's true.
00:37:28
I know that's true.
00:37:29
Stay in the castle.
00:37:30
It would be too hard, honestly.
00:37:31
It's hard to understand how they do with the Bachelor Mansion, like the logistics of filming someplace and having people stay there and have like a functioning place tomorrow.
00:37:37
I think it's like they want to keep the identities of the Traders a secret.
00:37:41
Yeah.
00:37:42
And if everyone was staying all together, it would be so hard.
00:37:45
I think, yeah.
00:37:46
Yeah.
00:37:47
So yeah, they have a they have a scenario that works to keep the Traders a secret.
00:37:50
Gotcha.
00:37:51
Everybody, do you think we'll see you on TV again after Survivor Australia versus the World?
00:37:56
Yeah.
00:37:57
I got some things in the work.
00:37:58
Okay.
00:37:59
Awesome.
00:38:00
I just want to make sure you weren't fully retiring.
00:38:01
You're doing a West retirement.
00:38:03
I am retiring from Survivor, like for real a hundred percent.
00:38:07
I'm done playing Survivor a five times as five too many.
00:38:11
Wow.
00:38:12
I don't know if it's too many.
00:38:13
It seems like it's served you to launch a career, which is awesome.
00:38:16
But West Bergman, currently on the Traders, said the same thing.
00:38:21
He's done with the challenge, but he's opened any other show and here he is on the Traders.
00:38:25
Yeah.
00:38:26
I'd like to see more of West too, because I don't really know anything about him, but I know people love him.
00:38:30
Long time.
00:38:31
I'm a long time fan of West.
00:38:32
Yeah.
00:38:33
I've watched, she was on the real world.
00:38:34
I've watched so much reality TV.
00:38:35
It's like sick.
00:38:36
Okay.
00:38:37
So what do you think about West's chances on Traders?
00:38:38
I think there's, I think he'll go far because people seem to not know him.
00:38:42
I think if you were familiar with West, you would vote about pretty quickly.
00:38:45
But he has taken a backseat from the challenge in recent years and the other shows he's gone on like House of Villains aren't like, people don't watch as much.
00:38:53
Oh, yeah.
00:38:54
They asked me to do that and I was like, no, I'm not playing with Johnny Fairplay.
00:38:57
Yeah.
00:38:58
But I think that's one thing.
00:39:00
Yeah.
00:39:01
The Traders changes people's personalities.
00:39:04
Have you noticed that?
00:39:06
Yeah.
00:39:07
I think that if you are fun, it seems to come out on the Traders.
00:39:10
Like, I think it actually extracts a lot of like more of the silliness of people versus some of the other shows that they're on, because it seems like the paranoia.
00:39:19
Like, really gets concentrated at the round tables.
00:39:23
Maybe it's just how it's edited, but like the rest of the time, the only person right now who's like literally sweating a sand of all, everyone else like kind of seems to be having fun.
00:39:32
I love how you said that.
00:39:36
So I think the Traders is like an advertisement for almost everyone who goes on it and you end up liking them more.
00:39:43
Yeah.
00:39:44
Okay.
00:39:45
So I don't know.
00:39:46
Wes is on the challenge.
00:39:48
He knows exactly what he's doing and like how to talk to the camera to like play a persona.
00:39:52
Right now I haven't seen him that much, but on the Traders, he seems to be thriving with people not really knowing who he is, even though I think a lot of the viewers probably do, because he has been around a long time.
00:40:03
He was on the real world Austin, which was like over 20 years ago.
00:40:06
So.
00:40:07
Oh my gosh.
00:40:08
Yeah.
00:40:09
So that's kind of my era.
00:40:10
Yeah.
00:40:11
Yeah.
00:40:12
Yeah.
00:40:13
I applied for the real world.
00:40:14
The same season that was CT and Treshell on the same season?
00:40:19
No.
00:40:20
They were on back to back seasons.
00:40:21
He was on Paris and she was on Las Vegas.
00:40:23
I was going to be on Paris.
00:40:24
Oh.
00:40:25
I was rejected and like the, I was like in the whatever semi-finals they had a different woman who had brown hair, who was like athletic and very pretty.
00:40:35
And I feel like they probably were like, we're going to go with Mallory Snyder over part of pretty shallow.
00:40:39
That's probably what happened.
00:40:40
Yeah.
00:40:41
I remember who she is.
00:40:42
So I could have been on that same season.
00:40:43
Not one of the most CT, but you know, the stars aligned and brought us back together for the trailer season two, where we had no connection whatsoever.
00:40:52
I don't think I ever call you speaking.
00:40:53
At least not that I saw on TV, but I never, I don't think I spoke to him one time inside the castle.
00:40:59
They would go out.
00:41:00
He was part of this posse that would like chain smoke in the corner.
00:41:04
And I was like, oh, I don't smoke like I can't even bond with these people.
00:41:09
It's really funny.
00:41:10
You say that.
00:41:11
Do you ever watch Love Island?
00:41:12
I'm the older seasons of Love Island UK, like seasons one through four or five.
00:41:18
They show them smoking.
00:41:19
And like when they do like there's like people have like in the corner bonding and smoking is the best TV because it's so pure.
00:41:25
People are like really themselves and like they're really connecting.
00:41:29
And for health reasons and like policy, they don't really show smoking on reality TV.
00:41:33
But if they did it, the TV would be better.
00:41:35
It'd probably be worse for the world.
00:41:36
It better for TV.
00:41:37
That is where they made all their deals.
00:41:39
Yeah.
00:41:40
Peter would go out there.
00:41:41
Peter smokes.
00:41:42
Whoa.
00:41:43
That's shocking.
00:41:44
Well, I don't know.
00:41:45
I guess maybe on trade.
00:41:46
Maybe he doesn't smoke at all the time, but he was there on trade.
00:41:48
I know him.
00:41:49
He was playing.
00:41:50
I was like, oh, if I cared more about winning, I would go smoke with you guys.
00:41:54
You did say recently that you didn't try hard in any of the challenges on the traders.
00:41:59
No.
00:42:00
I know.
00:42:01
Or respect it.
00:42:02
You know, you can serve your resources and can serve your energy.
00:42:05
I was like, I don't need to stick out in these challenges as like a big presence.
00:42:10
And also, they didn't matter.
00:42:12
Right.
00:42:13
It's not like dealer or no deal.
00:42:15
The challenges are the most important part of the game because saved my eyes from seeing the banker.
00:42:20
Yeah.
00:42:21
Oh, and it saves you because at the end, we didn't even touch on this.
00:42:25
This is so crazy.
00:42:26
At the end of the game, whoever's playing the banker, if they win, then they can choose whoever they want to be eliminated from the game, who's not saved.
00:42:36
Oh, my God.
00:42:37
Yeah.
00:42:38
And all the power shifts to the person who lost the challenge who was at the bottom.
00:42:43
Now they get all the power to decide whoever they want to go.
00:42:47
So it's like, it's so, it's such a tricky game to wrap your head around with alliances.
00:42:53
And well, it's like, I don't know.
00:42:55
It just seems like there's so many factors that it's just kind of like, you just got to go with it.
00:42:59
Like, you have to roll with it.
00:43:00
I was like, I've never tried to not control something so much ever in my life.
00:43:05
I was just like, I'm going to be around and like hang out with people and tell them what to do.
00:43:11
And if they don't take my advice, fine.
00:43:12
And I'm just going to roll with it.
00:43:14
And that's what made it so fun.
00:43:16
It was like, I was just having a having a blast, but full surrender because you can't control anything.
00:43:21
That would be another good name for your book, full surrender.
00:43:24
That'll be volume two.
00:43:26
Volume two.
00:43:27
All right, Barbara.
00:43:28
This has been such a joy.
00:43:30
I can't wait to see you on TV this summer.
00:43:33
And at the same time, read your book.
00:43:35
Now that you've teased the steamy read, we'll all have to check it out.
00:43:38
Thank you so much.
00:43:39
I'll be back on Monday.
00:43:40
We're talking dealer no deal Island, even more.
00:43:44
We'll be talking the traders episode four.
00:43:46
And we will be talking love Island, all stars, probably episodes the first five.
00:43:52
So catch up, everybody.
00:43:53
Get a peacock subscription.
00:43:54
It's what I'm telling you.
00:43:55
Because I think all of those shows aren't a peacock.
00:43:59
What an advertisement for them.
00:44:00
Thank you to my producer, Jade Waley, and thanks again for poverty.
00:44:03
Have a great weekend.
00:44:04
I'll be back on Monday.
00:44:05
