Jesus teaches so clearly in this passage how our heart looks to treasure something. God made us that way to treasure Him. But, in our selfishness and sin, we can quickly begin to treasure someone or something else – money, stuff, position, etc. This is idolatry – when something or someone else replaces God as the center of our attention, ambition and affection.
