*THIS DAY ROCKS* Springfield Reunion
Description
Welcome to This Day Rocks, where we celebrate the most important events in rock history. On this day in 2011, Buffalo Springfield made a huge announcement that they would be reuniting for a tour. Today, we'll hear from the band's member, Richie Furay, about this exciting news.
Richie Furay was the vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Buffalo Springfield. He was also a founding member of Poco and a solo artist. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he discussed the band's reunion and what fans could expect from their upcoming tour.
Furay shared that the band had been discussing a reunion for quite some time but it wasn't until Neil Young suggested it that they finally decided to move forward. He said, "It's been a long time coming. Neil said, 'Let's do it,' and Stephen and I said, 'Let's go for it.'"
The Buffalo Springfield reunion tour kicked off in Oakland, California, on June 1, 2011, and went on to play a handful of shows throughout the summer. The tour was a huge success, with fans thrilled to see the band back together again after all these years.
