From my research, it seems to me that the gap between what is generally agreed on among essential oil practitioners widens as we delve into more specific areas such as using essential oils during pregnancy, for babies, children and pets. This intermediate to advanced exploration is truly when developing your own essential oil philosophy really gears up. Remember that what you find on the internet is largely information based on what worked for that particular person. (Plus unfortunately in some extreme instances is pure scaremongering). 
Break information down by: 
1. Continue to consult your guiding light, such as your Modern Essentials App 
2. Find a brand of essential oils that you are confident in, and use their recommendations as a starting point. Information varies region to region 
3. Consult the recommended ratio chart 
4. Find an expert you resonate with (make sure publications are recent) ...plus listen for more resources!
