Host Jen Kwok @jenkwokjenkwok talks to her long time friend Leah Nanako Winkler @leahnanako, Leah Nanako Winkler is a bicultural Japanese American playwright, TV writer and Screenwriter. Her award-winning plays include Kentucky, Two Mile Hollow, Hot Asian Doctor Husband and God Said This. She's written for TV shows like Ramy, New Amsterdam and currently is a writer/producer on Love Life on HBO MAX. They talk about the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, their early days auditioning in NYC, as well as their pandemic experiences. Leah drops some gems about her writing process, including pitching in a writer's room, how writing for herself as "maintenance" differs from her work as a hired writer.
