Elders (pastors/overseers) must be men of integrity who can teach, lead, and guard the flock. Their credibility shows up at home and in the community. Deacons lead by serving, meeting practical needs so elders can focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word.
Elders lead by shepherding; deacons lead by serving.
