Ford Prefect, despite his Earthly-sounding name, is not from Earth at all but hails from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse. He has a remarkable knack for surviving improbable situations, a profound disdain for Vogon poetry, and an almost obsessive relationship with his towel.
