14. The dots do eventually connect - Ankita Patwa
Description
For Ankita Patwa, the job search was “tough”.
She graduated smack dab in the middle of the pandemic in 2020. She studied environmental engineering and was the first person in her family to live in the US.
But after a few short months, she had multiple offers. Not bad, in my opinion.
She assures us, you don’t have to have it all figured out now.
The puzzle pieces are many, but the dots do eventually connect.
When job searching, consistence and persistence is key. As Ankita says “the earlier you start networking, the better you are”.
None of your experiences ever go to waste. Amen for that wisdom from her dad.
Some of her other tips:
- When building relationships, don’t wait to connect; start building your network now!
- Ask alumni questions.
- Reach out to people who are doing it (whatever “it” you want to be doing).
- Keep building your professional development skills, always.
Ankita wishes she took advantage of more opportunities when she was on campus. Don’t make the same mistake. Get involved!
