Update: 2020-08-20
Description
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
John Smith is a 6x World/Olympic champion. He burst onto the college wrestling scene in 1983, and would go on to win NCAA titles in 87 and 88. John won his first world championship in 1987 and his first Olympic gold medal in 1988. Currently, he’s the head coach at Oklahoma State.
This interview was conducted for an audio documentary series that I’m directing - The Smith’s - which will air in January across 7 episodes. The podcast is donating that audio documentary series to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s Etched in Stone series.
This interview focuses solely on John’s competitive career through the 88 Olympic Team Trials. We’ll be conducting a second interview in the fall to cover the 88 olympics through the end of John’s competitive career.
Enjoy this one folks!
