Cusco, a city in the Peruvian Andes, is known for its archaeological remains and Spanish colonial architecture. It was the historic capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th to 16th century until Spanish conquest, and now is a major tourist destination- receiving nearly 2 million visitors per year.
