Data localisation is the latest buzzword and there are two camps firmly set up between the ones who want free internet and the ones who keep national security as paramount. In this week’s episode of Tech@Work, we reopen this debate with Amit Malhotra, MD of IDC India and South Asia.
While data localisation is against the ethos of free and open internet, India claims that it is for protecting secure nation's security and protect its citizen's data. How valid is the national security argument? Is the security of data is dependent on the location of data?
