Description

Many years ago a mentor taught me, “Life is like the changing seasons.” Seasons change and so does life. Seasons do not last, nor do the conditions and situations of life. We live in a constant state of change. We’re left with the choice to either hate and endure it, or savor and embrace it.

Today, we wake up to a new season. Summer 2025 is officially over. For some, that may be heartbreaking. For others, you may have been secretly enjoying pumpkin spice for weeks and you’re ready to go full gangbusters with your boots and sweaters. Hate it or love it, a new season is here.

I think what’s really hard for most is the reality of what follows fall. We all know since the beginning of time, after fall comes winter, and maybe you really don’t enjoy winter. And this focus on what’s coming next keeps you from enjoying the beauty of what’s here now. This is beautiful. This is special. Just stay here.

Isn’t that the secret to enjoying life … just enjoy here with what you have instead of stressing about what’s next.

Since the beginning of time there’s another truth, and that truth is, no season lasts forever. What always, always, always without fail follows winter? Spring. Then summer. Then fall. It’s the pattern of God’s creation and we’re here in the flow of it. Why fight it?

And this is the way of life. It’s continually changing. Ecclesiastes 3:1, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” The season of life you’re in now will not last forever. The next season will come. Maybe the next season will be your favorite, or maybe it won’t. Regardless, it will pass and life will change again. The key is, savor and embrace everything there is to be loved about THIS season of your life before it changes and you can’t go back.

With that, welcome to Fall 2025. You will only ever get one of these in your lifetime. Decide now you’re going to live the days of this season fully.

But today is monumental in another way as well. It’s the beginning of the final countdown. Que the 80’s music, “It’s the final countdown, ba-da-dah, ba-da-du-dut-dum”. Today is the beginning of the final 100 days of the year. It’s all come down to this. 100 days.

Remember when 2025 was fresh and new and filled with hope and promise? Remember when, in the cold winter you imagined the changes you could make and the life you could be living in the span of this one year? Now, there are only 100 days left.

100 numbered, limited, passing days. Numbered. Limited. Passing.

Moses prayed in Psalm 90:12 , “Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.” Imagine where Moses was as he was praying this prayer. Imagine what he was doing. He was leading the Israelites through the wilderness to their Promised Land. The journey was hard and the people became impatient and ungrateful. Soon complaining filled their camp. Conversations were filled with everything they had lost, all they were tired of, and details of what they didn’t want. Days all started running together. Every day, they ate the same thing in the wilderness. Every day, they did the same thing in their wilderness. And every day, they hated it more.

They weren’t getting where they wanted to go. They felt stuck. And this is where Moses prays, “Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.” He didn’t pray, “Make this season go by faster God, we don’t like it.” He didn’t pray, “Get us out of this by tomorrow.” He didn’t pray, “Let us sleep our way through this until we get to the good part.” No, he asked for God to teach them how to live today the best they could,
