On May 31, 2014, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States, two 12-year-old girls, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, lured their friend Payton Leutner into a forest and stabbed her 19 times in an attempt to become proxies of the fictional character Slender Man. Hollywood responded with 2 films, Beware The Slenderman (2016) and Slenderman (2018). Graham and Anastasia, both lifelong Wisonsonites and film majors discuss the ethics of the two films as well as Southern Wisconsin's choice to ban one of the films from cinemas.
