At the 2024 AAHKS Annual Meeting, Shaun P. Patel, MD and Andrew M. Schwartz, MD sat down to speak with the winner of the 2024 Clinical Research Award. The study’s main author, Simon W. Young, MD talked about the importance of postoperative pain management in primary total knee arthroplasty and how IORA of antibiotics for prophylaxis in TKA is known to increase local tissue concentrations. The study that included 46 patients investigated using IORA Diclofenac to improve postoperative pain management in TKA, compared to IV Diclofenac. Broken up into two groups, one group received IORA Diclofenac and IV normal saline placebo and the second group received IV Diclofenac and 10 normal saline placebo.
