20250213 Tracy Verma
Description
During this Catskill Mountain Dreamer session, we are gifted with an exploration into Indian culture, music and kirtan by esteemed guest Tracy Verma. We start by listening to her son Arjun's piece entitled Blossoming, overcome by emotion realizing this is her son! Shared experiences are interwoven with excerpts of Tracy's late husband Roop Verma's inspirational music, as well as a beautiful recording of Tracy chanting the Gayatri Mantra, while playing tamboura.
Starts at 4:27
Tracy Verma has been a yoga practitioner for 40 years and is a student of Indian culture and music, with much inspiration from her late husband, Acharya Roop Verma, and Pandit Sharda Sahai (tabla). Her spiritual and yogic training was from Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati and Dr. Edith Epstein. She also has a background in Western music. She founded the Catskill Choral Society Girl Choir, sings with the Catskill Choral Society, and teaches yoga at Hartwick College and the Atma Lotus Center in Oneonta, NY. A member of Oneonta Kirtan, she plays tabla and tamboura. As a tamboura player, she has accompanied her late husband and recorded numerous CDs. See their website for more information.
