Metro Manila today appears like a carbon-copy of Utrecht in The Netherlands, Vienna in Austria, and Brussels in Belgium back in the 1980s. But what's interesting is, contrary to Western-style development economics of building more roads to "lighten" car throughput, these European countries stayed true to their culture and heritage. Instead of flyovers and highways, they gave spaces back to the people


But how? Can it be done in Metro Manila, too?
