Miss D, as she goes by on social media, joins the show for a fun conversation about her personality in the classroom by describing her social media bio of being a 3rd grade tribe, chaos coordinator, lesson plan extraordinaire, collector of flair pens and mid-liner markers, and all things Disney. 😊

We dig deeper in our next segment to explore some of Vanessa's strategies when it comes to creating strong relationships with students.  Equipped with a history of education in her family and early exposure, she learned that student relationships lead to a healthy learning environment. By learning student names and breaking barriers to meet her students halfway Miss Derma has built a strong and respectful presence in her classroom.  😎

Later in the conversation, we direct our attention to lesson planning. Miss Derma describes her experience working on data teams at her district and the impact of the team. Google slides is the tool of choice and Vanessa even describes her commitment to 21st century learning by sharing her incorporation of the 4 C's: Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Communication. Balancing valuable content vs engaging stimuli is always a challenge but this 5-year veteran teacher has it down even in distance learning. 📝
