Dear Weatherfords: I wonder if either of you has ever heard of the 'slow worm'. In the fine tradition of faunal nomenclature, it is not a worm, or even a snake, but a legless reptile native to the British Iles. its interesting defensive maneuver is to clench up all of its muscles to become rigid, like a stick. I'd love to learn much more about it!
