Stress, we must understand, is the Body’s natural survival response to handle a situation that is unforeseen. And the COVID-19 pandemic has been a gigantic crisis of unprecedented proportions and stress is a natural corollary.
Stress is good when it supports and gives you extra strength to stay focused, energetic and alert. It is this “stress” that keeps you fully alert during that crucial work related presentation or in a critical moment in a football match or while studying for an exam. But it is this same stress that stops being useful when it starts to damage your health, your relationships, your productivity and your life. Some coping strategies that will make stress work positively for us are (1) Deep Breathing (2) Having an Exercise routine (3) Music (4) spending time with a pet (5) following and visualizing your passion (6) Adequate Sleep and (7) Having a healthy diet. With experimentation you can identify the stress reliever solution that works for you. And with discipline and consistent practice, you will make stress work positively for you.
