Neben Baumwolle und Leinen darf natürlich Seide im Sommer nicht fehlen. Die luxuriöse Faser gibt es seit mehreren tausend Jahren und war früher sogar ein Zahlungsmittel. Im Handstrickbereich kommt sie mittlerweile häufig zum Einsatz - ob in Form von reinen Seidengarnen oder Mischqualitäten wie Seide und Mohair als Beilauffaden.
