We had a bit of a slow weekend and unfortunately our normal analyst on Mondays Jason Cameron is under the weather today. Our host Darren Campbell did a solo podcast and covered the world of sports from his perspective!
We had the NBA's 72nd All Star weekend from Salt Lake City Utah. There was a lot of good things to watch and discuss from all of the events and gamers. There were a couple of complaints but all in all it was a great weekend for the Association. The top winners were Jason Tatum the All Star game MVP, Mac McClung the Slam Dunk winner and Damien Lillard the 3 Point shootout MVP, etc, etc.
The UFC held Fight Night 219/Vegas 69 at the Apex in Las Vegas. The main event was changed late with an injury to Talia Santos but the fight was resurrected by Jessica Andrade. Erin Blanchfield went into this fight as the underdog and ranked #10 against Andrade ranked #3. Blanchfield took advantage of her opportunity and got a huge win by rear naked choke in the second round. She wants a title fight next against the winner of Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso which takes place in less than two weeks. The rest of the card had a lot of great moments and was a ton of fun to watch.
The XFL 3.0 had their opening weekend this past one and it was quite the success. The rule changes took center stage at the end of one of the games and fingers crossed the NFL might adopt sometime in the near future.
Red McCombs passed away at 95 on Sunday and he was quite an influential figure in the world of sports owning two different NBA teams and an NFL Franchise also. He owned the San Antonio Spurs on two different occasions and the Denver Nuggets as well. He was also a former owner of the Minnesota Vikings NFL team. He is survived by his three daughters, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
