#9. Being open to change means you're open to growth with Harper Bishop
Description
EVERYONE! My guest this week is Harper Bishop!! He is a writer, photographer, community organizer, and activist. He has held roles at the Institute on Religion and Public Policy, Buffalo First, for Councilmember Michael J LoCurto, Coalition for Economic Justice, PUSH Buffalo, Our City Action Buffalo, and more. He co-founded, and is now a board member, for Cooperation Buffalo, an organization that trains and educates in cooperative economics and supports the start-up of worker-owned businesses.
In this episode, we talked about what it takes for a person to change their deeply rooted beliefs. Harper shared with us a broad overview of what it means to work as a community organizer and explained what poet and activist Audre Lorde meant when she said that no one lives "single-issue lives". He also shared about what it was like to meet AOC and work alongside India Walton during her incredible run for Buffalo Mayer in 2021. All this, and SO much more. Hope you enjoy!
