9.9 Listening and Learning: Emotional Support and Advocacy
Description
We welcome back Midwife Faiza Rehman, who set up the Raham Project in Peterborough, to provide support to mothers and families from ethnic minorities, through information, education and activities, with a focus on emotional support and advocacy. An important part of the project has been to give voice to the mothers, through monthly listening sessions. So how is this project going and how are the mothers, and families?
In celebration of International Women's Day (IWD), and a special day for women; this year the theme is ‘embrace equity’ – towards a goal of understanding that we are all different, but equal! We are reminded that in many parts of the world, being a woman is tough, challenging and fraught with difficulty. We look to a world where we can truly celebrate women and their achievements throughout the world.
