A Heart of Service in Action: How Ntombizodwa Turned Setbacks into Social Impact
Description
This youth month we have a powerful and uplifting opener, we are joined by the incredible Ntombizodwa Msane , a true embodiment of resilience, purpose, and public service. In a candid and heartfelt conversation, Ntombizodwa takes us through her remarkable journey — from the uncertainty of post-graduation unemployment to becoming a changemaker in her community.
She shares how she started a grassroots community forum that empowered township residents to earn an income through recycling and waste management , eventually leading to a role in the local municipality’s waste department — all while studying part-time towards her LLB degree .
But her path wasn't without challenges. Ntombizodwa opens up about being demoted from a leadership position , how she used that experience as fuel for growth, and how she continued to rise — moving into the environmental sector , earning her place in impactful work, and ultimately graduating her LLB.
Then came the global pandemic, and with it — retrenchment. But even in that moment of setback, Ntombizodwa saw opportunity. She went on to found the African International Humanitarian Law Initiative , a platform dedicated to advancing humanitarian law and social justice across the continent.
This is more than just a story of personal triumph — it’s a call to action for young people everywhere to serve with courage, lead with integrity, and turn obstacles into opportunities for change.
🎧 Tune in to be inspired, challenged, and reminded of the power one person can have when they lead with a heart of service.
