A Short Prayer and Reflection on the Government Shutdown

Description

As the U.S. government shutdown continues, thousands of workers are without pay and millions feel the ripple effects. It’s easy to lose peace when the systems we depend on start to crumble.

In this short reflection, we pause to breathe, pray, and look higher. Through Psalm 20:7 and Psalm 46:1–3, we’re reminded that while governments rise and fall, God’s kingdom never shuts down. His systems never fail. His presence remains steady.

Take a few quiet moments to ground yourself, lift up those directly affected, and remember where true security rests.

Scriptures:

Psalm 20:7 – “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Psalm 46:1–3 – “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble…”

Reflection Prompt:

What systems have you been trusting for peace that were never meant to hold that weight?

Prayer Focus:

For federal workers, families, and small businesses impacted by the shutdown — and for hearts to find peace that no political system can provide.
