Hailing from India with degrees earned in Norway, Russia, and Taiwan, Dr. Shabbir Syed-Abdul is a health informatics researcher listed by both Stanford University and Elsevier as a Top 2% scientist – or as he puts it, a doctor who got into AI. Dr. Syed-Abdul’s research on artificial intelligence and the internet of things in healthcare focuses on long-term care of the elderly and predicting and managing chronic disease. Dr. Syed-Abdul holds a position as a full professor at TMU’s Graduate Institute of Biomedical Informatics, as well as a Plum Blossom card issued by the government of Taiwan in recognition of work that has made a special contribution to Taiwan.
