We met up with Adam Maxwell of Vortex Optics at the 2022 ILEETA Conference and knew we needed to further the conversation on The Tactical Breakdown!

Adam Maxwell is an Account Manager and Customer Engagement Specialist attached to the Vortex Optics Military and Law Enforcement Sales Team. Adam has been active in the action shooting sports since 2007 in 3-gun, USPSA, and IDPA. He specializes in 3-gun as a multi time champion and is ranked Pro in both the 3-Gun Nation and United Multi-gun Leagues. At Vortex Optics, Adam has risen through the Customer Care, Technical Support and now LE Sales teams as a Subject Matter Expert on Low Power Variable Optics and their various applications.

In this episode, Adam provides a brief history of Vortex Optics and their work with law enforcement and military. He takes a deep dive into Low Power Variable Optics vs. Red Dot technology and includes information on their respective history, evolution, benefits, application, and contraindications. Adam breaks down a comparison of red dots to iron sights and the various training implications. They have an interesting conversation about using red dot technology as a diagnostic training tool so instructors can easily address their students’ issues. Adam also highlights Vortex Optic’s upcoming training and appearances.
