Alabamas Richard Young, a redshirt sophomore running back, has entered the transfer portal after a season with limited playing time. Despite starting in the first three games, Youngs role diminished as he only rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, averaging 2.8 yards per attempt. He also had one catch for six yards. Young was third on the depth chart but couldnt secure the starting position, with Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley, and true freshman A K Dear taking more reps. Alabamas run game struggled this season, and Youngs transfer leaves the Crimson Tide with five running backs for next year.
