Description

Alyssa Haddad-Chin is a playwright, screenwriter, and educator. Most recently, she was a 2022/2023 Writing Fellow at the Playwrights Realm. Fun fact, Lauren met Alyssa at the Road Theater Company’s Under Construction series and had a blast working on Alyssa’s play called Gentlemen and Ladies. We loved hearing Alyssa’s story of becoming a writer and discussing the power of comedy to make people laugh and to speak truth to power. She describes her work as “sitcoms on stage,” and this makes sense as she is very funny (and so are her plays)! We know you’ll enjoy hearing her unique story of creating new work and what it’s like to collaborate with a writer’s group like the Playwrights Realm. And keep your eyes out for her newest play, You Should Be So Lucky, which will have a produced staged reading as part of Moxie Arts Incubator Program on June 9th and 10th at WP Theater in New York.
