Description

In this Homily, Fr. Dn. Maxime discusses the idea of being the light of the world by looking at the ancient christian symbol of an anchor. The anchor symbolizes hope as it represents stability and security even in difficult times. The anchor also has a deeper, more mystical significance, as it was used as a mark to identify a person as the property of Christ, sealed with His Spirit and a partaker in His covenant of Resurrection. The goal of the Christian life is to live and die in union with Christ, and this was noticeable in the earliest years of the Church's life through the higher moral standard and worship practices of Christians.

Opening hymn is chanted by Christian Farradj (used with permission)
