Animal Activist Jailed for Chicken Rescue
Update: 2025-12-05
Description
California animal rights activist Zoe Rosenberg, a member of Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), sentenced to 90 days in jail for felony conspiracy and trespassing after taking four chickens from a Perdue Farms plant. Despite claims of rescuing the birds from cruel conditions, a jury found her guilty. Rosenberg, who named the chickens Poppy, Ivy, Aster, and Azalea, stands by her actions, stating she would not apologize for taking the birds to an animal sanctuary. Perdue Farms maintains the animals were not mistreated, labeling DxE as an extremist group. This is not the first time DxE has been involved in such incidents.
