Description

Montrealers have been hearing two seemingly contradictory stories at the same time: on one hand, the housing crisis continues, rents keep climbing, and finding a truly affordable apartment feels harder than ever. On the other hand, new data from the CMHC (Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation) shows vacancy rates rising across Quebec this summer, and we’re now hearing more reports of landlords struggling to find tenants. Jayne Malenfant, Assistant Professor at McGill University and an expert on the housing crisis, tenant rights, and housing equity issues, spoke to Andrew Carter.
