The HIPAA privacy rule turns 10-years-old this year. AHIMA President Kathleen A. Frawley, JD, MS, RHIA, FAHIMA, was involved in its development, serving on the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics’ Subcommittee on Privacy and Confidentiality.

She says the recent HITECH modifications represent an opportunity to review policies and procedures and determine where improvements are needed. Frawley discusses HIPAA’s past and future in this audio clip.
