Australian Commission for Veteran Well-being: New Rules
Update: 2025-11-28
Description
The Australian government is launching a new commission to bolster veteran well-being, with a focus on suicide prevention. Notably, retired ADF members are ineligible to lead this body. The commission will provide independent oversight and advice on reforms, ensuring veterans voices are heard and systemic issues are addressed. The commissioner must not have served in the ADF within the past five years. Recruitment is ongoing, with the commission officially operational since late September. The government has accepted most of the Royal Commissions recommendations, with nine already implemented and work in progress on another one hundred and ten.
