The information Technology Act, 2000, is an Act of the Indian Parliament notified on 17th October 2000. It is the primary law in India dealing with Cyber Crime and electronic commerce. It is based on the United Nations Model Law on Electronic Commerce 1996 recommended by the General Assembly of United Nations by a resolution dated 30th January, 1997.
It provides legal recognition for transactions carried out by means of electronic data interchange and other means of electronic communication commonly referred to as electronic commerce, which involve the use of alternatives to paper-based methods of communication and storage of information, to facilitate electronic filing of documents with the Government Agencies. The Indian Law in the internet age has evolved greatly and by being cyber aware, the deadliest cyber crime, which are surrounding us as an epidemic can be combated. The present book seeks to generate awareness about information technology law and act as a bridge between a regular cyber user and a cyber czar.
