Founding member DERRICK "DUCKIE" SIMPSON of the legendary and Grammy award winning group BLACK UHURU pulled up to the Entertainment Report Podcast for a no holds barred conversation. In this episode Duckie Simpson starts to unpack Black Uhuru's long and complicated history. Duckie Simpson speaks about growing up in Waterhouse, being introduced to Rudolph "Garth" Dennis in Trench Town, meeting Don Carlos and forming the very first version of Black Uhuru.

Duckie Simpson also spoke about meeting Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer in Trench Town, meeting Mykal Rose, recording their first album for King Jammy, recording 2 singles for Dennis Brown, Sandra "Puma" Jones joining the group and recoding the classic Reggae album 'Showcase' for Sly & Robbie.

For over 50 years Black Uhuru has remained one of the most popular recognized prolific reggae band from Jamaica. The living legends have earned several achievements in the music industry including winning the first ever Grammy Award for reggae music. They’re long success along with having the highest reggae record sales after Bob Marley & the most songs sampled by other artist over the years has allowed them to become Ambassadors of reggae.
