On March 25, 2025, officers with the Lehi Police Department in Utah responded to a welfare check at a gas station.According to the police affidavit, an officer found 32-year-old Haley Victoria Sullivan in the driver’s seat of her car, preparing to use heroin. The officer attempted to speak to Sullivan, but she ignored him and proceeded to inject herself with the drug. According to the affidavit, the officer continued to get Sullivan out of the car as she kept trying to start the vehicle. As another officer arrived to block off Sullivan’s escape, she backed into the first officer’s vehicle and fled into a nearby gas station. While fleeing, Sullivan rammed a second police car and a bystander’s vehicle. She then crashed into a concrete planter, where officers were able to take her into custody. On July 16, Sullivan pleaded guilty to felony charges of property damage and failing to stop at the command of police, and misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and driving with a controlled substance. She was sentenced to a year in the Utah County Jail.
