Barbershop TV Series Expands Cast with Familiar Faces: Punkie Johnson, Brett Gray, Roy Wood Junior, and E.J. Bonilla Join Amazon Prime Videos New ComedyAmazon Prime Videos upcoming Barbershop TV series is adding some familiar faces to its cast. Punkie Johnson from Saturday Night Live, Brett Gray from On My Block, Roy Wood Junior of The Daily Show, and E.J. Bonilla have all signed on as series regulars. The show, set in Chicagos legendary Calvins barbershop, will continue the story from the popular Barbershop film franchise.Brett Gray will play Kofi, Punkie Johnson will be Stella, Roy Wood Junior takes on the role of Robert, and E.J. Bonilla will play Fernan. Theyll join Jermaine Fowler, who was previously announced as the series lead. The series centers on Travis Trav Porter, played by Fowler, as he tries to follow in his grandfathers footsteps at the iconic barbershop.Marshall Todd, who co-wrote the original Barbershop film, is writing and executive producing the series, also serving as co-showrunner. Max Searle will join him as co-showrunner and executive producer. Kevin Harts Hartbeat Productions is also involved, with Kevin Hart himself executive producing. The new series aims to capture the spirit and humor of the original films, bringing that unique barbershop atmosphere to a streaming audience.
