Non-musical history for today: 1903 – The Boston Americans played the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first game of the modern World Series. The Americans are now the Red Sox, while my favorite baseball team, the Pirates, is still technically in Major League Baseball, even though it seems like they are just a highly glorified "minor league" team willing to give away good players for "prospects" and not the "now."
