Before Governors
Update: 2025-11-09
Description
This week we’re looking at the apostle Paul dealing with governors: men responsible for overseeing and directing life for nations. But true to form with much of the biblical narrative something else seems to be getting addressed in the process, namely the nature of governing oneself. Every person has their own domain of governance, we oversee our lives and our circumstances. Every person from the slave to king has to determine how they will deal with those things that are under their control and out of their control. In today’s narrative we will see a procrastinator, a pacifier, and a resolute believer. The contrast is not one of merely how people approach their to-do list, but more profoundly of how a person responds to God, life ambition, and purpose. This week we’ll be looking at Acts 23 and 24 where Paul once again stands before Governors and distinguishes himself with his stalwart commitment to please God rather than men.
