In our very first episode Sandy introduces the reasons behind creating the podcast and has a quick chat with Nicky Tuck, the GM at Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust who have helped make recording possible through their generosity in lending space at the Hyundai Marine Sport Centre. Nicky reflects their mission to provide safe pathways to the sea for all and to connect our community to a more fun, active lifestyle, as well as their goals to provide a safe, accessible environment in which our people can explore some of NZ’s most valuable taonga (treasure) — our moana (sea) and our whenua (land). Actively promoting non-profit water safety education and recreation opportunities, and building stronger community connections via their inclusive marine-based multi-sport facility.
