Sad that Payne says it's hard to debunk when it's actually been completely debunked. Betty was a ufo nut beforehand Barney didn't remember anything post looking through the binoculars. It was all fabricated through hypnosis sessions. Listen to Strange Arrivals, a much more thorough examination of the incident.

Seriously, everytime I hear a podcast version of this fantasy, the podcast loses credibility. It's easy research. Google Cannon Mountain Tram 1960. and Google Barney's drawing. they are identical down to the people standing in the window. This story was either a hoax...and based on Barney's reluctance to discuss it, that's my guess...or they just weren't very bright. They were in the vicinity of Cannon Mountain when it happened and the comparison of the drawing and the tram are obvious.
