Description

In this podcast, Haematologists Dr Michelle Lavin and Dr Roseline d’Oiron discuss the importance of recognising and correcting iron deficiency in women and girls with bleeding disorders. Iron deficiency occurs very frequently in this population, but challenges with definitions, lab tests and reference ranges can make it hard to accurately detect. The experts discuss how to diagnose and correct iron deficiency, and how to monitor patients. They also share some practical dos and don’ts and describe how iron deficiency is easy to treat, while making an immense difference on the quality of life of patients.

Dr Michelle Lavin is a Haematologist at the National Coagulation Centre, St James's Hospital, Dublin, Ireland and Dr Roseline d’Oiron is a Haematologist at the Reference Centre for Haemophilia and RBD, Bicêtre Hospital AP-HP and University of Paris-Saclay, Paris, France.
